TLDR: Staff with poor integrity, attitudes, and customer service, incorrect orders, poor donut quality, and forced kiosk issues. This location has lost my interest in returning. I recently visited the DD on Broadway. This has not been the first botched experience here. It was early in the morning, approximately 0630, and I went inside to order. They installed new touchscreen kiosks for ordering, so the staff completely ignored my presence, except for an annoyed glare directed at me. I was the only customer inside, except for two people sitting at a table. I ordered a half dozen donuts to share amongst us. I attempted to order a bismark donut, as I saw them sitting behind the glass, but the kiosk did not have a button for one. Do I order a vanilla creme and “correct” them when they hand it to me, or do I order something else? To avoid hassle, as it seemed like I annoyed them by simply being there, I ordered something I didn’t want. I ordered a chocolate donut with chocolate frosting; I think the screen called it a double chocolate. I proceeded to finish my order with a large, iced coffee with the instructions of 4 creams and 2 sugars. The staff member who put my order on the shelf was pleasant and I thanked her before she rushed away. I had wanted a bag, as it was raining and I had other things in the car to carry. I observed large DD bags, located next to the order shelves, opened and standing up on the counter. I didn’t know if they were free, but I was willing to pay extra for one. I waited next to the counter, staring at the staff and I continued to be ignored. Eventually, someone made eye contact, so I spoke to them. I asked them if they had any bags that I could get. She explained that she only had small paper bags meant for bagels or donuts. I turned my head to the left and looked directly at the large bags (big enough for my half dozen box), and she did the same. I looked back at her and she just stared at me for a brief moment until I left. Upon my arrival at home, I opened the donut box to only see chocolate glazed, and not chocolate with chocolate frosting. I was disappointed. I traded for the jelly donut in the box. I picked up the jelly donut and it was completely flattened underneath, like the underside hadn’t puffed up in the baking process. Or, as there was jelly coming out of the center and falling onto the box, someone had squashed it. I’m not qualified to be a donut detective, but something was clearly wrong and it should not have been sent out like that with any measure of integrity. Further, the coffee didn’t have the two sugars. It’s not that they accidentally put in four, like they usually come with, but the label only had four cream listed on it – no added sugar at all. While it could be user error at the dreaded kiosk, I vividly recall selecting two sugars because I had to decrease it from four. Overall, as far as I’m concerned, the staff here do not have integrity and they treat customers like they’re a nuisance. The kiosks don’t let you order what you want, and you can’t even get what you can order on the screen. But they’ll give you deformed donuts! As far as the missing sugar in the coffee, I can’t say who’s at fault with certainty, so I’ll blame the kiosk again. Four strikes, you’re out. I’m not runnin’ on DD. Regards, M.R. Always cold bagel bites and somehow their hot drinks end up less than kids temp when you get them. I try and avoid this location when possible. Meal type Breakfast Price per person $1–10 Food: 2 Service: 3
