Die Stal in Montagu is a little slice of country heaven! As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed by the sight of rows upon rows of beautiful narrtjie trees, laden with juicy fruit. It instantly set the tone for our delightful experience. The charm of Die Stal lies in its commitment to country-style cooking. The food is all about simplicity and wholesomeness, just like Grandma used to make. From the moment we stepped inside, we felt like we were part of a warm and familiar family gathering. One of the highlights of our visit was the farm style breakfast. It was a feast for the senses, with homemade goodness served in generous portions. Each bite felt like a comforting hug from the countryside. We couldn't resist exploring the little shop they had on-site. It was filled with treasures like homemade preserve jams and local artisanal products. It was like stumbling upon a hidden gem, and we happily stocked up on some goodies to take home. The setting of Die Stal is simply idyllic. Surrounded by nature's beauty, it's the perfect place to unwind and soak in the tranquility. Whether you're enjoying your meal indoors or sitting outside, you'll be captivated by the serene atmosphere. Die Stal offers more than just a meal; it offers an experience that warms your heart. If you're looking for a taste of country living and genuine hospitality, this is the place to be. We left with full bellies, big smiles, and memories that will keep us coming back for more. We loved this restaurant as it was different. Something else. Good food in great portions. Perhaps more expensive but compared to a fast food restaurant definitely worth it. Farm atmosphere with friendly dogs. Yes I was tempted to feed the labby although not allowed. Fortunately for him a piece of chicken fell on the grass. :) Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Bacon and Cheese Burger with Chips

Great food selection with various combined flavours. Plates are very full so you get a lot for what you pay for. The chicken strips and Jelepeno poppers were deep fried and rich in flavour. Very homey style and farm vibe.
A family owned coffee shop/restaurant on a farm. The hostess is full of life and never a dull moment when she is around. Service and food is really good. Children are welcome to run and play. There is a slow constant trickle of clientele, a lot from surrounding farms and towns people. You can do yourself a favor to visit
True plaas kos. The meals are big, filling and stacked with flavour. The road up to this is a bit far out of Montague (about a 10 minute drive) found in the kassie, the view driving there is beautiful with many hills and plants. To get there you will have to turn off to a gravel road protected by tress and turn right at the top passing the gorgeous farm house. There are many parking spots and trees covering them, allowing your cars to stay cool from the hot sun. There is a beautiful outside area covered with trees and with many clay items around to buy as well as to look bright. Their is a little shop with hand made goods from clay and jam. If you like good big meals, that is what you get here. Not fast service wise but not slow either. The people serving you are kind and considerate and the food is delicious. The pudding is a mixed bag, i got the cheese cake, very good, my aunt got a "soft serve icecream" which ended up being a pre bought icecream in a packet, this was disappointing. There is coffee however only filter coffee. Sadly they have no card facilities making customers pay with cash, so make sure to bring money. Overall this was a good experience. Good food, great amount of food options and lovely surroundings.
Was a cold and rainy day when we visited. So we opted to dine inside. All other customers sat on the stoep. So the vibe was not as good inside as what it would have been on the outside. Nevertheless it was a lovely place to visit. The food and service was excellent. Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
