It was such a lucky find! The kind that improves your experience of the trip because it Is so real, such a good, honest cuisine. Really tasty. A truly friendly, warm welcome by the owners. And if that we're not enough, they display on their shelves an amazing array of preserves made by the house too. Highly advisable place to stop! Unexpected find for us. Enjoyed our visit & the food. Brought home Mala lamb curry Pancakes for supper. A real find with real food at really fair prices. Very pleasant staff. And don't forget your fudge !! Delicious 😋 Rooster Kirk haven, quite a change from bread slices. Great idea😊
Rooi Pot is central in the CBD of Heidelberg, WC. The service is friendly and they have a wide verity of nice dishes. They also stock a large verity of homemade preserves - even precooked meals ready to thaw at home. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
Love the Rooi Pot! It's so "not what you'd expect." It's behind the biltong shop, so you can't see from the street how enticing it is. You might be forgiven for wondering if the menu has different potjie offerings. But once you've parked, you'll see that it's got wonderful outside seating underneath some vines, with both formal tables & couches/armchairs around a coffee table. Inside are also formal tables, but if you really enjoy sitting at a counter to eat, I guess they could make a plan at the coffee station counter for you. The menu is diverse, & you might even find a potjie-based dish on special! But the main focus is good quality lunchtime fare. Wraps, toasted sandwiches, filled roosterkoek. Also more formal dishes. Then for the sweet tooth: Belgian waffles, amazing cakes, flavourful milkshakes. There's even homemade lemonade & homemade gingerbeer. Everything is made with care, attention to detail, & professionalism. The quality of the food is of a high standard. That's another wonderful thing about the Rooi Pot. The food is so awesome, but the prices are very reasonable. There are also shelves stocked with deli items such as chutneys, mustards, sauces, jams, pickled & bottled items, biscuits, rusks & much more. The owners are always happy to accommodate dietary requests. Go sit under the vines at Rooi Pot. Order a coffee. See what you get with it. Then eat your heart out! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
