I've had good experiences previously. I only come to the Castro Valley Denica's a couple times a year. A friend was visiting so I thought this would be a good experience. For the most part it was ok.
I ordered a weekend special and received something else. I thought something was wrong when they served the table but the other dishes were almost completely correct. I can accept the guava pancakes having whipped cream instead the requested powdered sugar. After a couple bites of my dish I caught a server's attention because there's no way my dish was close to being right. When the manager came over he pointed out how differences between what I thought I ordered and received. I ordered something new to me and received something else new to me, how am I to know? Pork hash is not something I would ever order but I don't expect him know everything about me. He continued to blame me for not noticing the differences, saying the English muffin is not something that would be asked. I've never ordered the Molokai Special before and never had it. I thought the rice would be good. According to him all problems with the food have to be reported before the server leaves. The severer placed dishes down and left. It wouldn't have been an issue for me if the pork hash would have good. Maybe it is, but to me the pork hash was disgusting.
The service is quicker between ordering and receiving food from what I remember of previous dining experiences, but I wouldn't recommend spending $150 for three people unless the orders are basic enough to be made at home. It perturbs me the customer service skills employed are to blame the customer.

Grrrr! I went here because of the mixed reviews and thought people are going on a bad day or whatever but man idk who is giving this place 5 stars but it's not worth 5 stars. Let's start with what we ordered: latte (which they didn't care to design), salmon crepes (horrible!!), Nutella crepes (which had barely any chocolate). I wasn't happy. Nothing looked like the pictures in the menu. I wouldn't go back.

It USE to be easy to park, order and find a table. Holy $@&& was it incredibly busy when we went this time.
I’ve always loved the complimentary red hot sauce and chips, infused ice water and jamica juice.
I always get the epic chicken and waffles, and Spanish latte.
I’d like to try a different location and see how it’s there.
Look at the pastries!
Ube cookies are delicious and soft.
Also very pricey :/

Went to Denicas at the perfect time. It was busy but plenty of parking and seating. As soon as you step snide you see the front counter full of sweets followed by the daily specials. Don’t forget to try the cookie samples.

Really like Denica’s!! My favorite chicken breakfast dishes are the epic chicken & waffle and fried chicken sammich. Both are fried chicken based but have very distinct flavors which I appreciate. Our go to brunch place in Castro Valley!
Do try the very frenchie French toast. The caramel syrup makes it a delicious breakfast treat. Another favorite of ours is the Spanish latter made of condensed milk.
In our most recent visit, I also tried the Loco Moco (Chicken). A perfect breakfast dish for the cold winter mornings. Delicious!!
The place can get pretty busy, the service is fast after placing the order.
