Visit Dead King Bread early; their rotating selection of high quality sourdough breads, doughs, and goodies sell fast! I highly recommend the sourdough pizza dough - it's phenomenally light and will certainly elevate your homemade pizza night. If you're looking to liven up your morning routine, grab some frozen biscuits, pop 'em in your toaster oven, and be awed by the rich, flaky, and filling results. If you're unable to secure the goods during their limited Saturday only hours, join the Bread Club and let them deliver the goods directly to you! Service Take out Meal type Other Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
The best sourdough I've ever had, bar none. Cheery space at Manayunk Timber, open from 10-1 every Saturday. Get there early for the best selection. Everything is delicious! Service Take out Meal type Other Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It's the best loaf of sourdough bread you'll find around. And, every week we make pizza with the dough we get delivered, and we consistently say we can't get pizza like this anywhere else, and we made it ourselves! The new space is allowing for even more kinds of bread and sweet treats, and they are all a delight. I highly recommend getting a weekly delivery subscription, but stopping by the new bakery at Manayunk Timber on a Saturday is a real treat, too. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It's difficult to find any place where the pressure to spend money is off and the invitation is to explore and wonder first. Disregard the user that rhymes with umbrella, they simply don't get it. Since moving into Manayunk Timber's spacious building, Dead King has not only added to the wonder that is our city's only sawmill, but they are every week generating a lively venue for good conversation and genuine community building. Add to this their incredible baked goods and the once-in-a-generation level of sourdough bread, this place brings incredible value to our city. No where else will you find bespoke furniture, an old growth lumber supply, and warm bread all under one roof where the only requirement is to have an open mind. See you Saturday! This baker is incredible! The space is great and we are always treated kindly. Everything I’ve tried is fantastic. Both the focaccia & sunflower seed bread are exceptional. We had the biscuits for thanksgiving and they were truly something special! Service Take out Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I signed up for the bi-weekly sourdough subscription and paid to get it delivered. There is nothing like a crusty, chewy, freshly-baked loaf of sourdough showing up during the Thursday doldrums. I hope they someday add more types of bread to the delivery/subscription options. The sourdough is great but I'd love to switch it up to something else (baguette, focaccia, rye, seeded bread, olive bread, etc) once this subscription is over.

New bakery (storefront at least) in the area with incredible sourdough and focaccia. I’ve gone 3 times already in the few Saturdays they’ve been open and I know I’ll keep going back. Everyone is so friendly, the bread and baked goods are amazing, and I truly love watching the shop get built a little more every time I stop in. I went the Saturday before Christmas (as soon as they opened) before they sold out, and all the treats were great. It was great to see them sell out their first holiday - it wouldn’t be a true Roxborough favorite if we didn’t buy them out of everything for holiday parties! Since moving here from Florida Ive been trying to fill the bread shaped hole in my soul and Dead King fills it. Their sourdough is amazing, the focaccia is to die for and if they have sweets you better get them before I do. Service Take out Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Best bread in Philadelphia by a wide margin--made by really good people. The subscription service is convenient and flexible, and it's a nice place to visit on Saturdays to boot. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
