A Seaside Gem with European Flair
During my latest visit to Somerset West, I was drawn to "De Brasserie," a beachfront restaurant renowned for its fresh fish and seafood dishes.
With the option to sit in air-conditioned comfort inside or enjoy the fresh breeze on the shaded terrace, the restaurant provided the perfect setting for a relaxed lunch.
The menu impressed with a variety that ranged from classic Belgian to French influences, and every bite testified to the quality and freshness of the ingredients.
The careful presentation of the dishes was particularly eye-catching. Despite the excellent food, the service was somewhat confused on the day, leading to longer waiting times.
These minor service mishaps slightly diminished the overall experience but did not overshadow the brilliant overall impression.
Price-wise, De Brasserie is in the higher segment, which seems justified given the location and quality of the food.
A visit to "De Brasserie" is recommended for anyone who values first-class cuisine in an incomparable setting.

A very unassuming place, what a lovely find just driving by. Great patio with views of the beach and water. The tables inside are fine dining styled tablecloths and napkins. Lots of wait staff to attend to your every need. Their coffees come with a lemon aperitif and biscuits. A grand experience.

Just went into this establishment for a cocktail and immediately the attention to detail was better than great!! I love how even though its on the beachfront itself patrons are asked not to enter without shirts or shoes on ....
Beautifully stocked bar and barman are well clued up as to what they are doing .
The host is also helpful, accomodating and professional!!
The sushi is incredible and FRESH!!!!
Best beachroad restaurant on the entire strip!

Good Honest Food. Fairly well priced. Friendly staff but service can lag a bit during very busy periods.
We had:
Sushi - good
Bouillabaisse- excellent, rouille a little flat in taste, otherwise great
Asian Beef Salad - good
Kingklip - very simple. But well cooked and beurre blanc was very good.
Chocolate Mousse - could taste its a high quality chocolate and not too sweet - very good.
Beers and white wines were served well chilled and timeously. Didn't have any cocktails but they seemed very reasonably priced.
All in all a great Brasserie style experience in a lovely setting. Recommended

Stopped here by chance - and were very glad we did. Wonderful exterior seats (with a great view) and utterly delicious food - the salads were fresh and tasty, while the seafood was exceptional. Service was stately, but this was I feel reflected in the food, which was outstanding (and very reasonably priced). The two queries we had (over the lack of semi-skimmed milk and their ‘no bread while sitting outside’ policy) were courteously and thoroughly addressed. A lovely relaxing place to visit, one we’d return to. ALSO - space age toilet facilities!

We were most impressed with this restaurant. Treat yourself and enjoy an upmarket dining experience at De Brasserie. We were made to feel welcome even though they didn't have a table for us when we arrived. The barman (I think Patrick) asked what kind of wine we preferred and then gave us a taste of a wine he recommended.
After we had been shown to a table, I felt queasy and stepped out for some fresh air. Our waiter was attentive to immediately pick it up and open some doors for fresh air.
Full marks for service, ambience and food!
(PS. Go and check out their amazing state-of-the-art toilets😉)
