I wanted to see what all of the hype was about Korean corn dogs. Korean corn dogs have a batter that is made of rice flour and fried in hot oil, so they are very crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, like fried mochi. Some of them have little cubes of potato mixed into the batter so they are like crispy French fries on the outside.
I was very excited to find out that "Corn Dogs by Mr. Cow" in Hilo has Korean corn dogs and wanted to try them while I have the opportunity. They were terrific! Very tasty! Not healthy, but definitely fun to experience Korean street food.
You can get a sausage on the inside or mozzarella or cheddar cheese, or you can get half sausage, half cheese.
We got one Mr. Cow Classic outside with half sausage, half cheddar inside, one Fried Potato outside with half sausage, half mozzarella inside, and one Flaming Potato with flaming Cheeto crumbs on the outside. We also got the cheese balls. Piggies! Highly recommend for a yummy Korean street food experience!

One of the better potato Korean rice dogs I’ve had! Most of the time, the potato ends up semi-cooked, and now I know why: the mozzarella at Mr. Cow ended up liquified, meaning that the satisfaction gained from the crispy potatoes was lost in the lack of cheese pull… still delicious all around, would definitely return to try more flavors!
While on our way to the Thurston Lava tube we stopped at Mr. Cow. My girlfriend has always wanted to try Korean corn dogs and it lived up to everything that she hoped and dreamed. Although she did get the spicy one coated in hot Cheetos and she did have “firey poops” afterwards, although I don’t blame the corn dog. I got a half cheese half glizzy coated in sugar and used lots of ketchup. Overall great experience. 10/10 recommend.
