Just finished and getting ready to leave. Atmosphere is awesome, service was average and the food is lacking. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich and got more FAT than beef. The sauce was like trying to eat sweetened vinegar. After paying and as we were preparing to leave, I was then and only then asked if I wanted another beer. Not trying to be over critical but the place looks great from the road but the food and service simply didn't live up to the outside look. We won't return😩 Dennis Johnson Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
OMG! Came here for a galentine’s and the even though place was mostly empty, everything was amazingly fresh. Had the sliced brisket sandwich with a brioche bun, chips, and a drink (Aggie special) and some jalapeño smoked sausage. MY GOD. Hands down the best BBQ I’ve had in years! The ONLY feedback I have is that they need a sweet and spicy version of their thinker sweet sauce! So so good! And y’all, the blackberry cobbler??? It was so hot and delicious! A must have. On the note of atmosphere, the place is HUGE with an outdoor patio complete with seating and cornhole/games! Our pellet smoker was on the fritz last night and had to cook the skin-on, bone-in chicken breasts in our air fryer and while they came out shockingly good... the absence of smoke was obvious! So I was craving smoked meats for dinner tonight. Stopped 1st at the meat pit and got 1/2 smoked chicken, 1/2lbs of beef rib, 1/4lbs of burnt-ends and goat🐐... then proceeded to pick-up several sides. At the sides stations we picked-up 2x side-salads🥗, 4oz cream corn🌽, 8oz macaroni and cheese and the 8oz loaded smashed potatoes🥔. That's in addition to the two different BBQ sauces and 💣 beans🫘! The restaurant was clean and service was attentive and friendly. All-in (with taxes and tip) we spent $84.96 for 2 adults with big appetites... given the mountain of food and respective food quality... we were quite pleased! 🤩 Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Macaroni and Cheese
This place sure looks the part. It is a nice restaurant. Central Texas style buffet line where they serve the meat from their hot plate. Now for the food. I should have known not to go kind of late in the day but they were open and I figured it was so popular they'd have good food. That's where I was wrong. I'll start with the good. The jalapeno sausage was pretty good, kinda dry but had a good flavor. The light bread they served was pretty good. It was just plain old sliced bread but it was fresh and good. They have beans on the self-serve bar along with onion, pickles and jalapenos. All you want. The beans were thin, but they had a bean flavor. They were ok. Coleslaw was not bad either. Kinda sweet and sour type. Two types of BBQ sauce were also on the bar. One was vinegar based, runny with a pretty good flavor. The other was thicker with a sweeter flavor, pretty good also. It was downhill from there. Mac and cheese with brisket and jalapenos. It was tasteless. Kraft mac and cheese would have been better. 14$ Ribs were very dry. Kinda like they were deep fried after smoking. They had a strange flavor. The real reason to go to a BBQ joint is the brisket. I had a slice of moist. There was plenty of fat on there and some good looking bark. I was able to cut the first bite with a fork, it was ok with a little flavor. Then the next bite I could not cut. I had to go get a knife to cut the rest of it. Not my kind of brisket. The moist should have melted in your mouth, this did not. It just stuck in your teeth. Because of the ribs and brisket, I have to give the food a 1 star. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 2 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Pretty good barbecue. I had brisket, it was tender. A bit dry and not much flavor, with the most clear being black pepper around the outside. I got a half pound, seemed like a lot less than that, and for $12.50 just for the meat, seemed a bit steep. I got potatoe salad and a twice baked potato casserole loaded with bacon and cheese. That was excellent! Sauce was ok. Tasty and thick enough, nothing to write home about. Together with a soft drink, the total came out to $21.74. These days, they probably aren't making much profit, but that is a bit much for a lunch of that size and quality. Very clean, inviting place with friendly faces!
