Very cute ice cream shop located directly on the water.
The service was quick and the folks working there were kind.
I got the vanilla with the butterscotch hard shell with a cup of sprinkles for dipping. Don't typically eat soft serve, but it was very tasty.
There is lots of free parking, which was nice and areas to sit near the shop.
The young man working there is very polite, helpful and patient. I ordered a medium cone and it was plenty for me. To my surprise, my dog who loves ice cream wasn't interested. The ice cream was good, not as creamy and seemed more icy. It is inexpensive. $3 for the medium plus $1 tip. I enjoyed it.
If you love soft serve ice cream, you'll love the Ruddy Duck's "Cone Island" shop. I recently stopped here for my birthday and ordered 3 soft serve treats in cups. Their small is $2, the medium $3. Sprinkles were 75 cents extra. I was so happy. I got exactly what I wanted for what I thought was a great price. Great view of the bridge from their shop. I only wish they had apparel or stickers or something with their logo on it I could buy; love the soft serve cones.
Positioned ideally just off to the start of the boardwalk, the location of the Cone Island Ice Cream Shoppe makes one imagine that the founder would have walked along the pier on a warm day with their eyes closed some years ago and when the moment that the taste for ice cream developed they opened them and built the ice cream shack in that very spot.
Overcoming the choice paralysis that many waterfront stores cause, Cone Island offers only three flavors: chocolate, vanilla, or a swirl of the two - all with or without sprinkles. Not only does this simplicity make it easier for the customer to make a decision without wading through dozens of experimental flavors, it also goes a long way to keep lines short and movement fast - all of which are important when attempting to manage drips of sticky ice cream making their way down your fingers and impatient children tug at your sleeves.
Reasonably priced, Cone Island Ice Cream Shoppe remains competitive with the Ice Cream Place across the street and refuses to take advantage of families and tourists to the area. Portions are fair and sized almost in consideration of the sun that would surely beat down and melt any larger scoops. Even though one of the primary downsides of the seasonal store is that it becomes impossible to go down to the island without being tempted by a cone of soft serve, I would be pleased to recommend the store to anyone visiting the area looking to savor the view of the river.
You can only get soft serve ice cream vanilla, chocolate or a swirl of the two flavors. They also have toppings that you can add. Added menu items include ice cream sundaes and shakes. Service was good but they have a limited menu.
Such a cute little location! You order at the one window and pick from the next. Great classic ice cream treats like soft serve cones, sundaes, floats, and even shaved ice! And the best part is that they have tiny cones for little appetites-as a mom, I was thrilled!
Vanilla, chocolate, or swirl soft serve . Simple and yummy enough on a hot summer day. What I didn't like is that if you want a regular size cone you have to pay more. Huh?? It's like they saw mini cones at Costco and then got the idea to buy them and charge us regular price but charge higher for a normal size one. Stupid.
