I didn’t realize this place is located in a little strip of stores. Very simple inside but the food was fresh and tasty. The tofu dishes don’t come with veggies so I requested that on the side and they were fine with making a side order of steamed veg. The mapo tofu was slightly spicy, nothing to worry about. My friend enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and wonton soup. Egg rolls were more like spring rolls. Overall they were very nice and the woman was very attentive. Cute little place, very kind people. The sesame chicken was great and the best thing we ordered. Egg drop was pretty good. I always love pieces of corn in there so that’s a win for me. The Mongolian beef was so/so and the lo mein really lacked flavor of any kind, I wouldn’t order that again. Overall not bad - decent portions but not the best we’ve had in CO especially for the cost. My family met up with some friends at China Cafe. We were a party of 6 for dinner. Ordered curry chicken, beef chow fun and chicken chow fun (so 2 orders of drunken noodles), cheese wonton, fried egg rolls, and chicken wings. Food was sent out fast. The waiter was extremely attentive to our needs and we enjoyed our food. The restaurant owner met with us and chatted a bit and during the brief conversation, she overheard the 3 young kids say the drunken noodles were spicy. She then told us that she'd send out a chicken lo mein on the house for the kids!! We thanked her and a few minutes later, she came out with a full entree! Our kids AND us enjoyed the lo mein and thought that she's really kind and demonstrated super high level of customer service! How rare is that! The owners are also Castle Rock residents, so I thought to write this review to encourage more locals to visit. They had been the new owners for about 2 years. It's been over a year, maybe more, since we last purchased food from China Cafe. It must have new ownership and clearly has a new chef. We had to throw out the entree and the appetizers were below average. It used to be really good. Also, the inside is even more run down than it used to be. I should have gone to South Garden II in N. Castle Rock. What a disappointment. However, I will say that the staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Got take out for Christmas Eve dinner here. We had issues with the online ordering system, as it lost our order and delayed our food by at least and hour, but I appreciate how the staff handled it as they were very professional and gave us two free entrees to make up for the delay. The food was also really quite good, especially the twice cooked pork and pineapple yellow Thai curry. My third Chinese restaurants i tried in Castle rock along with south garden and Tasty House. The meat was not fresh and the sauce was just too salty. This is your average or below Chinese restaurant. Pretty tasty food and fairly good price. Best chinese that I have found in Castle Rock. The sesame chicken sauce was pretty think so it soaked the breadding really quick. The leftovers were almost inedible because of it. But would definitely go back with a bigger appetite to prevent leftovers. Placed an order here for $72 and I was upset about the amount of meat they gave us for our lettuce wraps. It was barely enough for one wrap. I had called hoping we could come back and get the amount we normally get but they were not willing to that for a returning customer and they were pretty rude over the phone as well. Great dinner tonight! The waiter was helpful and quick getting our order in. We ordered Kung Pao Seafood Delight and Thai Basil Combination with brown rice. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy and the meat was tender and spiced just right. Both dishes were delicious and we had enough to take sone home, too. The owner stopped by to see how everything was. Tom has been in the restaurant business for 41 years and bought China Cafe in March. We will be back and highly recommend the food!
