S.C. Boys, Inc.'s Jeff Chen, who usually works the door - LineLeap on the weekends, got his feelings hurt. I met him in July 2017, and he usually does not allow me to skip the line. I'm OK with that. On September 16, 2023, I waited in line, got a seat at the bar, and ordered an adult beverage because I was meeting a friend there for the Colorado vs. Colorado State football game. I mentioned to the nineteen-year-old bartender that the turnover was high. I asked if the turnover was due to Jeff Chen. Quote: She said that people who work there cannot handle it. She said it was too much for them. In leading up to why I asked the question, previous employees told me Jeff was tough to work for, so I mentioned his name. The bartender told Jeff what I said, and he approached me extremely mad. He told me, what if he went to my job and said I wasn't nice? He has the right to do that. It's his right. It appeared that I hurt his feelings, but it was based on hearsay, so I am not sure what the bartender told him, but he asked me to leave. He wanted names, and I was not going to give him names. I was not disruptive and peacefully having a drink. I decided to leave. We do have a First Amendment to free speech. I am sorry your feelings were hurt. Finally, I'm looking forward to Brothers Bar and Grill opening across the street from Champs. Competition always helps a business to treat its customers like family. We shall see because State College is a small town, and word-of-mouth is powerful. NOTE: Mr. Jeff Chen at 139 S. Allen Street in State College, Pennsylvania: It is against the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act to deny entry due to one's race, religion, gender, or disability. Please be advised. My family and I came to Champs for the Ohio game. Our server, Zoe was phenomenal! She was very kind and attentive and made sure we had everything we could ever need! She made some great recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The loss was sad, but Zoe's great hospitality made our time worth it. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
A cool sports bar to hangout and catch up with friends. Multiple games available to have fun with. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and sports bar in the basement. Ambience is nice for a club. Variety in the drinks menu. Since its in a small college town, expect typical student experience at times.
The renovations made Champs look 100% better. Definitely check out downstairs. Service is normally slow and keeps on getting slower the more crowded it gets (but that really shouldn't be a surprise). They have a wide selection of beer and even have cider on tap. $1 tacos are pretty much the best deal in town and are pretty tasty too compared to the rest of the so-so food they serve.

Really hoped to enjoy Champs this evening. Unfortunately, we noticed several rats scurrying around the restaurant. I didn't want to believe what I saw, but then I received my Cobb salad. It was littered with rat feces. We asked for a manager, but unfortunately the server said he had other issues to address. SAD to see. Will not be dining here ever again. Food was okay. I had the blackened chicken rigatoni. The noodles and sauce were good but the chicken was salty af. And the side salad that went with my pasta came out about 10 minutes early, which was unusual. Good beer selection and reasonable prices. Three servers were serving me while I sat solo at the bar. Two were very friendly and helpful while one kept asking me to remind her what I ordered. Also the service was a bit slow considering it wasn't that busy. All in all, I'd probably give it another go... sometime.
