The rating here depends on why you’re traveling and what’s important to you. Although the shower did not have a shower head, and it was pretty dingy, there’s nothing else to complain about. Walk to the beach. Eat yummy food. Sleep in a fairly comfortable bed with two large fans that keep you cool at night. It seems the locals hang out here. Next door is a little nicer place for 8 times the cost. If you are passing through and just want a day or two at the beach, rinse off in the ocean and save your fancy shower for your next destination! (Update, shower is just fine!) Jessica the owner is very kind. I arrived late on a Saturday and she was more than accommodating. They served us tasty food and batidos! Even though I was a little nervous staying in the room alone since the room was on the other side of the bar and restaurant, and didn’t feel the most private at first, I had no issues at all. Woke up refreshed to the sound of loud barking dogs 😆 Love the patio and cheap prices! Good food and service! Wifi works too.

I did not experience any problems in nicaragua concerning the civil unrest. Cascada was an awesome place. Remarkable are treat hosts, nice food, basic rooms and the cool vibes. Its well situated in a beautiful town and easy access to the surf breaks. I spend quite a while here and i would revisit.

Really good place. Kitchen is clean, daily cleaners! Have delicious food (Fish Curry and Wine Night is a must). They also organize events and live music at their bar with a beach front view and great company. The owners are very friendly and helpful with whatever you need! Highly recommend, close to Aramillo and Colorado’s

Among the best beaches in Tola, Rivas there is this small, clean and cozy hostel, with a friendly staff, the place is calm and has a rustic ambience that makes you feel not only welcomed but at home. Pros Wi-Fi, Bar, good food, vegetarian coconut curry dish was my favorite meal. Private and shared accomodations at a very affordable price. Surf instructors on site, surfboards rentals. Cons a little bit hidden from the main road

Not good. We were very disappointed with our stay here. The staff were barely around, I literally came back to another traveller sitting and waiting for someone to check him into his room, at 3 pm! There seemed to be a general lack of caring about the customers staying there. The beds were pretty comfortable, and the room was cool enough with the fan on and window open at night. The bathrooms in the rooms however, were barely passable and honestly gross. The shower had no head on it and water sort of just dribbled out of a rusty pipe, it also sort of always smelled like a dead animal/feces. There was no hand soap. The sink in the room leaked onto the floor via the under pipe. The location was the only saving grace, but even that wasn't enough to make up for the rest. I would recommend saving your money and staying elsewhere.

The owners, Will and Hernan, are super chill. The hostal has a very chill vibe. If you are a surfer you will love it. It is very close to amarillo. Everyone who stays here ends up staying for months! They have food parties, cheap wine and good curry!

please don't do business with Cascadas Hostel and Beach Bar. he is dealing in stolen property, specifically the HS board that was stolen from my friends house a year ago. after contacting him about the board the manager of Cascadas has been beligerante and dismissive in his responses and lied saying that they had sold the board yesterday that they posted today. we will be showing up at the hostel very soon to pick up the board or find other ways of remediation. in looking at other reviews of the hostal they seem to really have some issues on cleanliness and customer care. in general f*CK these thieves and let people know, these business owners are unsafe and disrespecful

We rented surf boards here for $10/day and had an ice cold Tona (literally, there was ice in it...) after a day of surfing Playa Amarillo. Service was lack luster but you can't beat the location, atmosphere and price!! I'd go back.

I came across this new place while travelling nicaragua. I ended up staying longer then i anticipated and even had friends joining me there. Everyone loved the laid back good vibe service and cleanliness . 💫💫💫

Food was ok ..... until the last day ..... I had spare-ribs that weren't even done .....such a shame the ambiance is perfect Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
