We've started a tradition to come out to Indiana for Apple picking and then Carlson's. Their root beer is my favorite, not too sweet, not too medicinal, just perfect flavor. Their burgers are great, especially for the price. The atmosphere is super fun too. So if you're in the area forget the national chain and come support this destination spot!

I love this place! The food is simple & Delicious. Always get a gallon of rootbeer to take home. Get the big root beer float bc if you don't, you'll wish you would have.

The service was just okay, the food was just okay, kinda disappointed. My friend was here from out of town for just a few hours and asked if I could meet for lunch. She wanted to go somewhere else, but I insisted you can't come to Michigan City and not have Carlson's. So finally, she agreed to check it out. We had a picnic table in the corner out of the way, it was perfect for the kids. The waitress was nice and got our drinks in a timely fashion. They were out of the first 2 things my friend tried to order but finally she chose something they had. The food wasn't anything special although the price would suggest it should be amazing. The waitress brought our bill and collected the money when she brought our food and then she never came back to check on us . Overall it was just an okay dinning experience and I was a little disappointed. At the end of the day my heart was still full because I was able to spend a little time with an old friend.

The Chicago dog was PERFECT! Their onion rings are old school flavored - AMAZING! The Root beer in a glass mug is worth stopping in on its own. The car hops are friendly and helpful. Service was fast too! Can’t wait to go back!
