About
The Capitol Oyster Bar in Montgomery is a seafood establishment that offers a casual, laid-back ambiance with a stunning view of the Alabama River. The interior design is simple and unpretentious, with plastic plates and cups for easy cleanup. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service provided. The restaurant's outdoor seating area is perfect for enjoying the riverfront scenery while savoring fresh oysters on the half shell or steamed shrimp. The menu features a variety of seafood dishes, including Argentina Shrimp, Royal Reds, and Fried Crab Claws. For those who prefer non-seafood options, there are also chicken tenders and burgers available. In addition to the delectable seafood offerings, the establishment boasts a full bar with a range of cocktails, soft drinks, and wines. The Gumbo and Crawfish Cream Sauce are highly recommended dishes, and the Oysters Rockefeller and Shrimp Jammers make for excellent appetizers. The Capitol Oyster Bar is a fine dining spot that offers live music on Sundays and occasional entertainment. It also has a campground and boat rental available for guests. While the service can be slow at times, the friendly staff and delicious food make for a great dining experience overall.

This was our first time eating here. Upon pulling up, my husband was a little skeptical, but I told him I'd seen FB friends post about going here and it was fine. We proceeded to go in, we were right before dinner rush, so got seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly. I can't remember her name, but she made drink suggestions and answered any questions we had about the menu. She even allowed us to move from the inside seating to outside, when a table became available (this was shortly after being seated and we only had our waters). We ordered our appetizers: gator tail, gumbo and crawfish cream sauce and she said she'd wait because we might be full. Well, we wanted the whole experience so when we got our appetizers we placed our entree order. She was right! We were already stuffed! When our food came, catfish platter and a 1/2 order of fried oysters, and chicken fingers, we sampled each item and the sides, but ultimately had to get a to go box. My husband was very impressed at the size of catfish and said they were so good. It was just an overall wonderful experience. The sun was setting and the scenery was beautiful. We even got to speak to a gentleman as we left, that we feel was the owner. He asked about our experience and told us that Sundays are when they have the live band. We will definitely be going back. It's not often you have such a pleasant experience and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy their job. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Took my family here for the first time today at 3:13pm. They had a $15 cover charge because they had a band playing. I asked what band and the lady didn’t even know. I asked if there was seating away from the band because we just wanted to try the food because of the reviews , but there was no option other than paying the cover charge even for the kids. Not a good experience at all. They should have separate seating for people that do not care about the band, many people turned away while I was reading over the menu at the front door. I assume they are loosing more business having the cover charge than it’s worth, now will probably never try the place.
Please refer to my pictures of REAL OYSTER PO BOYS, THEY AIN'T HERE. Started with a blood orange beer= ok Fried gator tails just tasted like fried gator tail, nothing special about the spices. Had some peel n eat shrimp, tasted good. Crawfish sauce was good!! Fried oyster po boy was immediately a let down, cuz it wasn't french bread, kinda feels like cheating, very small oysters. Styrofoam plates was funny. It's a good place to aay you've done it, I won't be going back. Improve. Service Dine in Price per person $30–50 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

The exterior had me questioning where we drove to. However, the interior is nice and family-friendly. The food was excellent, and the service was fast. I got the oysters and the crab claws. These are the best oysters I've had in a long time! The crab claws, I didn't expect blue crab claws, my fault for not asking, but didn't expect them. They were a little over cooked and over priced. All in all a nice place Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
