Went for breakfast. I enjoyed the experience. The food was fast despite being minutes after opening. The staff was courteous and friendly. Quite affordable to be honest. Definitely going back to sample their chef's special.
I have loved this place for ages. Having gone back to Nanyuki to visit after three years....quite disappointed to see a reversion of service style in reversion back to what can only be termed as a clear racial bias. Sat at a table with my student guests ( Table of 10 - 4 foreigners and 6 locals) our guests received first attention, got better service, and even addressed by other patrons of similar race - whilst we experienced either being the last to order and or be attended to. Could go into detail, but unnecessary.
Needless to say, being a first visit for my guests - this left them dissapointed to see - that in 2023 , they too can witness this and from local staff towards what should be deemed a customer , regardless.
I have truly loved the place for many years, and would hope that the management and staff - be a bit more mindful about how you leave your clientele feeling after a visit.

I really enjoy coming at Chestnut most especially because of the serene environment. It's so quiet and oh so lovely. Also the cute and friendly pets makes me feel so alive and just .... Beautiful.
We liked the quiet & simple setup. Very unpretentious with the owner & chef both taking an interest in us, as first time guests, & quite content to let the quality & tastiness of their food speak for them. The service was prompt & polite.
We bought some of their frozen take away meals & they have proven equally as good as the food served from the kitchen.
Altogther a seriusly good little restaurant in very pleasant surroundings.
