Must go…now! The food was spectacular and the service was even better! Enjoyed marinated scallops with avocado cream and flaked cod in breadcrumbs with “exploding” olives. The orange and vanilla crème brûlée is a requirement during your visit. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious meal! A very clean, friendly, and warm atmosphere. Felt welcome the moment we came in until we left totally full hours later. Loved the gambas!!! But there are no disappointing dishes. Everything is just so.

We walked by this place during our stay in Porto (August 2023). It was about a 2 minute walk from our Air BnB. We were looking for something to snack on and this called out to us.
Food was great - drinks were great.
Definitely recommend this while in Porto.

The food at Cantinho was really good! It was a nice mix of traditional Portuguese food and some more (from my view) modern dishes. We had the fried green beans, the duck red curry, and the veal risotto. They were all delicious and felt like comfort food. The menu has something for everyone and it was honestly so hard for us to choose just three dishes. The service was very friendly and made the experience great

The taste was good, but not super good in comparison with high-rated local restaurant. The price was 1.5-2 times more expensive than local restaurant(in particular wine was expensive, a glass from 6euros- while local restaurant has 2euros house wine).
It's not superexpensive as Michelin restaurant, but I expected more surprising experience compared with local restaurant.
I ordered deep fried green beans with tartar sauce and flaked cod with bread crumbs, LT egg and “exploding” olive. Both not bad, but some (high-rated) local restaurant serves dishes with similar level (or could be better). To me, the best cod dish was at a local restaurant, with half price. Green beans was very normal, the cod was too salty(combination
with cabbage was nice. Simply too salty).
To be fair, you might find something new and creative here, it's difficult in traditional local restaurant(in addition, English communication was fine). If you are bored with too traditional dishes or don't want to struggle with non English speaker, this restaurant could be nice choice.

We went to Cantinho do Avillez after it was recommended to us by a local and we really enjoyed our dining experience!
We ordered 3 starters, 2 mains, and 2 desserts to share between two people (and to be honest, it was a bit much but we regret nothing). Everything was delicious but my most memorable experience would have to be the chocolate lava cake with strawberry sorbet.
I recommend making a reservation to make sure you don't miss out on this delicious experience.

Grilled Octopus
Booked an early dinner there with my fiancé. Upon arriving, the couple in front of us clearly misread their reservation for 5pm (17h00) for 7pm. The host still managed to accommodate them at bar.
Nice cosy atmosphere with old benches and booths. Marcia (?) our server, spoke both English and Portuguese and accommodated us quite well.
The house broha bread was excellent, the alcohol and wine list was solid, and the menu was pretty good.
A bit disappointed there were two steak options, two risotto and two curry options, but my fiancé's roasted octopus was perfectly cooked and delicious. My shrimp moqueca with rice was also very well prepared.
The entrées were quite good and innovative, the scallop and avocado cream was light and delicious, while the fried green beans had nice textures and crispness.
Finished with the touchinho de ceu dessert with raspberry sorbet, well presented and quite impressive, just wish it was bit larger.
Overall, it was a nice evening, good ambience and service, and notable food. A couple of lightbulbs for the corner seat, a slightly diversified menu is all it could use at the monent. I can see why it was Micheline reviewed. Would recommend in Porto.

The ambiance exudes sophistication, but it's the food that steals the show. Some of the finest Portuguese dishes I've ever had. A must-visit for those seeking an authentic and top-tier culinary experience.

I think that the best part is the staff, they are super friendly and professional. The service was quick, maybe too quick, to rush to eat! In regards to food, I have my thoughts, I was expecting more! I think they need to bring their game A. I ordered the marinated scallops, this starter has loads of guacamole, so much that you cannot taste the scallops... Then I ordered the Professor Eggs, they were okay but there was an excess of oil, too much fat to the point that u are having a bit and u are done with it. I also ordered the hazelnut dessert which by the way is not 3 textures, is just two, but brilliant, it was lovely. And maybe this is a bit sad to say but the bread with the truffle butter and the moho were so nice, so I think they need to look into their main dishes!
