Best queso around, love how they use different peppers rather than jalapeño. Service Dine in Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Such a great experience eating here! Our server was amazing. Brought us extra chips and salsa without us even asking. Got our orders correct even with my dairy allergy. The food was amazing. The Pastor tacos are a must! We will definitely be back. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Lime Rice

Great Mexican food!!! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Unfortunately, I did not have the best experience with Camino Viejo. I ordered the pork tamales with rice and beans as well as white queso for the table. The tamales were $18 and the queso was $10, so I presumed the food would be pretty good if it was at that price point. Food for the four of us came out concerningly fast, which I was impressed with but soon discovered why it came out so fast. The rice was cold, the beans were lukewarm, one tamale was piping hot on the outside but cold on the inside and the other was room temperature and cold on the inside. Out of the four of us eating, only one person's food was actually warm and it was because it came out on the piping hot cast iron pan in wooden inlay(even that food was just warm at best). I was seated right across from the kitchen, so I was able to watch one of the cooks place my food (and numerous other people's food) into the microwave on a plate and then proceed to stick his finger on the food to see how hot it was before sending it out with the waiter. The flavor of the rice was good and the beans were decent, but the tamale was almost entirely masa(the steamed tamale dough) with just a tiny bit of pork in the middle. The pork flavor was good but EXTREMELY dry and the masa was almost completely flavorless. The queso was super watery and didn't have a lot of flavor, so definitely not worth the $10 we paid for it. They also do not sell any alcohol... So no margaritas, which I thought was a bit of a red flag. On a positive note, the wait staff was friendly, attentive and pleasant(I can't remember his name, but I think it was Jake or Jacob). He went out of his way to make sure our vegetarian friend was taken care of and knew what her options were. The waiter was attentive enough without feeling like he was hovering. He also took my tamales off of our ticket because I only ate a few bites before sending it back. He was extremely apologetic and went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of. Quite honestly, our pleasant waiter is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. The restaurant also had a big hole in the wall that they shoved brown paper towels into, the table was dirty, and the menus they brought out had food all over them. Overall our waiter was great, but Camino Viejo was WAY overpriced for the quality and experience. No one finished their food because we were all concerned we may get food poisoning after how cold everything was and after watching the cooks put so many things into the microwave before sending it out. I will not be eating here again or recommending this place to anyone. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2

We used to enjoy the food here when it started, but slowly it has gotten worse. The last experience was quite disheartening. The flour tortillas were old and I suspect that the edge was showing mold because the edge was cut off, I wouldn't know why else the edge would be cut off. The tacos had so much grease that I had to literally wring it tightly before taking my first bite and over 3 tbs of grease came out. Queso was simply microwaved "cheese". Meat tasted funny like when your taste buds are like "it's alright I guess.." and your brain goes like "nah.. something is way off". It feels like the cook does not really care😞. Our visit was on a Tuesday. Two stars instead of one because the place looks great and the service was not bad, the potential is still there! We were looking for a new restaurant to try that was fresh and unique. Camino Viejo is a treasure that is hidden downtown Sherman. It’s so hidden, we walked right past the door. Once we entered the restaurant, it was magical. The food is prepared fresh, so the smells are divine. The walls are decorated authentically. They have TVs. It is BYOB. I usually rate Mexican food from the salsa and chips. This salsa is fresh and delicious. The chips are fresh. Before we finished our 2nd street taco, we agreed this would be a go-to restaurant for us. I highly recommend.
