I like going to California fish grill because it has healthy food for a great price. And I want to give kudos to the manager Miguel. He Is simply fantastic. He cares about every customer that walks in the door and make sure they're taking care of in satisfied. And if it's not right, he will make sure to correct it. They're doing a great job over at the California grill in cypress, even though they're short-staffed. Good value for your money, a wide variety of fish with some nice chicken options as well. However, there appear to be machine Nazis doing everything in their power to keep you from placing an order with anything other than one of their machines. Which, by the way, eliminates their senior discount. Corporate needs to find some bean counters with a heart before they ruin what used to be a great franchise. I used to come here all the time and the food WAS great. I come in last night and they have self ordering kiosks??? I ordered the sea bass and it was absolutely disgusting. It was burned under the bottom and very dry. It tasted like dirty grill. I asked for garlic/butter sauce and it had a dollop on each piece of fish. Also, the fish was placed on top of my corn??? The only thing edible was the kale salad...What happened to this place, it used to be so good before the pandemic... We love the soul food at this location in cypress and the one in Cerritos. The fish and chips, calamari and shrimps and Cajun fish tacos are our all time favorite. The servers need to be friendlier, The atmosphere is bit noisy cos it’s an open kitchen, the music is always too loud. The tables are always greasy. Hence, we always order take out and enjoy the food in the comfort of our home. We have been loyal customers for the longest time and love California fish and grill nevertheless. Had the catfish and it was great. Not sure what the seasoning was in the batter, but it was red. Concerned at first, but after one bite I was sold. Double fries and ate every one of them.
