I was really impressed by this small setup. I know how hard it can be to keep staff motivated when customer numbers fluctuate. I was therefore very presently surprised when I was served quickly. The cappuccino with excellent and the samosas very fresh. This is a great little cafe / resto. Not only does it supply good coffee, tea and a variety of snacks / dishes, it trains young people in hospitality . Do give it a try. #diaryofamuzungu
Definitely stop here for a beer or snack after a long, hot gorilla trek at Buhoma. Even if you are not staying at the Volcanoes Lodge or need to depart the area that day. They do great work by training local community people in hospitality and food industry. It is great to be a part of their learning process. Leave yourself enough time since the staff is learning, it can run a little slow. It is next door to all of the shops if you want to get a souvenir. If you have time, we recommend doing the Master Rolex class with Chef Bosco and Bosco - it was so much fun and we learned some great cooking skills, as well as how to make traditional Rolex. Diane was in training and did a great job.

It's affiliated with the resort next door bwindi volcanoe lodge and it shows. The staff are super friendly and extremely efficient. Food is perfect, although bear in mind this is Ugandan time and everything is cooked from fresh so takes time, and excellent value. They have a training hospitality programme for locals too. I really can't fault it perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner or a cold beer ☆

Reviewed by a local expatriate frequent customer. 5 stars by local standards. 4 stars by western standards. Subsidized by Volcanoes Lodge as a training establishment, Bwindi Bar is a coffee bar offering a small selection of local and international fare. Since the employees are being trained, service is enthusiastic, though sometimes there are newbie mistakes. The manager may ask you for feedback, and is prompt to take corrective action. I've seen much improvement in the two months it's been open (July, 2015). Bottled drinks are cold. The ice uses filtered water from a clean source and is safe to put in your drink. Espressos are made using a stove top espresso maker. They are consistent in quality, though perhaps a little weaker than what you would get from an electric machine. Of the food, try the guacamole with hot chips fresh off the fryer. It's made from freshly picked avocados. For an African dish, try one of the rollexes, of which several choices are offered (and you can probably specify your own ingrediants). A rollex is a chapati with a plain omelette with various toppings, and everything is rolled together. They are a cut above the roadside Ugandan kiosk rollex. Local coffee and tea are available for purchase.
