Cute little grocery store with lots of options for lunch! They have a deli counter, hot food section, salad bar, made to order burritos, smoothies, and so many prepaid items. It’s a bit pricey but that’s to be expected with the quality of food. I ordered the tantalizing turkey sandwich which was delicious and way to big for me to eat in one sitting! Can’t wait to go back and try more

Their bulk section is awesome!!! Nice cheese selection as well. Seafood we have tried was very fresh. Packaged foods are expensive but you know you are getting sustainably sourced foods. Keep an eye out for sales. Membership is totally worth it!

This place is amazing. It's a co-op like the one in Sacramento, just a tad smaller. Everyone is nice, the employees are courteous as well as helpful. They also have a nice, shaded, area with dog poop bag stations above. I like to sit and work or relax while my car is charging. Oh and let's talk about the new chargers. They JUST activated these beauties. I never saw a ChargePoint fast charger before now. Reasonable and competitively priced, too. The bonus is it is within walking distance to the local community college, Sierra College.

It's great to have a grocery market like BriarPatch in Nevada County. There's a number of items that are hard to find without having to travel for 45 minutes. The prices are ridiculous, but I'm sure that doesn't surprise you.
Every time I go here the employees are so rude to me. I have been very nice asking for things. They always have an attitude. If you don’t like working here quit!

Deliciously prepared dishes, fantastic supply of the best quality foods & fresh meats with lots of choices for locally grown produce and competitive prices! Friendly, friendly staff to boot :)
The polenta with roasted red pepper was amazing! The vegan macaroni salad is the yummy drier type with just the right amount of purple onions. They also have those wonderful tangy cranberry bran muffins. One is enough for two and they don't cheap out on the cranberries which makes these muffins nice and moist inside and a perfect muffin top. The customer service was always excellent and they are always friendly. They also have a nice assortment of cheeses. The produce section is amazing. One little criticism which has always been my experience with every checkout person, is they don't take care with the tomatoes when bagging and particularly the heirlooms which tend to be more sensitive to getting squished. They again were squished under other heavier veggies.

Traveling through and the employees were very nice and helpful. The prices were quite high compared to our similar stores in Chico. Most items were 30-35% higher than what we are paying in the valley. It seems the store primarily is there for those with healthy incomes or student's parents are paying the bills.
Located in Grass Valley, California, this is one of the best natural food stores North of Sacramento and South of Ashland, OR. Fairly darn good hot/salad bar (too much dairly burning chile-like spicing, and oilyness), produce section, outdoor and indoor eating for munching down your salad and hot bar selections. They also have a deli and bulk foods. Overall, I don't shop much here due to the too-high prices. Perhaps once the solar system is paid for, they can lower prices? Also, I sent the coop this message today (3/3/2024): I'm guessing that a majority of people who have bought coffee at The Patch, and then never bought it again there (like me) because it has the worst flavor of any coffee from any coffee-based shop in Grass Valley/Nevada City district, would love to learn that you have assembled a Coffee Taste Test for workers (who drink coffee) at the Patch, in order to sample a wide variety of coffees you sell, and vote on which coffee to thereafter sell at the deli? Sincerely, Clay Olson, member 20XXX.

During Thanksgiving I am reminded of when Briar Patch sent out letters with our pay so far for the year, plus the cost of our benefits, at this time we were paid $12 an hour for $15 an hour work, they claimed it was a livable wage for the area. Only way that wage is livable is if you were to live in your car, which I am sure some employees did. Don’t shop here, everything goes to the top and they don’t care about their employees. Shop elsewhere, save money.
