I’m reviewing this as a sandwich shop. That being said, this place is more well known as a bakery focused on bread making. They had two counter service people working. Both were incredibly friendly, helpful and efficient. It’s a good looking operation, but it may be a little all over the place with its purpose. I say this as it did present itself as a bakery cafe with specialty foods, but had a lot of Knick-knacks possibly just to fill space. As for food, they were on the right track with showcasing their bread options in their sandwich selections (again, a strength). They just fell flat on their condiments and the amount and quality of the protein. Content was lacking and what I thought should be two tasty choices fell real flat and to the point of leaving a bad taste in our mouths. The culprits here were condiments: garlic aioli and pesto. Way to strong. The other issue was the pressing process. Whatever they used made the incredibly fresh bread dense and heavy. I like some other reviewers was feeling like this was going to be a 5 star review prior to eating the sandwiches. Hey, the positive is with just a few changes they could easily fix this and improve. Focus on a fuller, fresher sandwich and get some input on what accoutrements would highlight their awesome bread choices. Steer clear of overpowering add-ons. I’ll still go back and buy products from these guys. Again, they seem to be really nice people with very reputable baked goods.
Bummer. We got there a little late in the day but, despite being a labeled a bakery it seems like more of a sandwich shop. No real loaves for sale so we skipped the bread. Kid wanted a smoothie. $7. That’s fine. Except it is 100% not a smoothie. It’s a slushee - just a couple of pumps of flavored syrup and ice and even my kid didn’t want to drink it. 0/10. Do not recommend. Staff was friendly and nice.

OMG! We just went to Borealis for the first time on Christmas Eve and it was an 11/10. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast paninis (rosemary bread!), pastries and coffee were so delicious. It was truly the best (and jolliest) start to the day! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This is our favorite bread bakery in the Southern Maine and coastal New Hampshire area. We typically buy their sub rolls, burger buns, and then one of their sliced loaves. They also have ready to eat food, but we go for the bread.

Great shop offering so much more than bread. We enjoyed an enormous cinnamon roll, scone, brownie, and magic bar. Everything was fresh and delicious. They also offer breakfast sandwiches and lunch items.

Great food but the service could use some work. Sat there 2+ minutes watching someone make a sandwich only to be skipped over while they served the people behind me, no thanks Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
Perfect place to eat if you want a mean old woman to make you feel unwelcome
