Food is great here. Absolutely love the little corn cake - so sweet! Although I really like the food here the service definitely leaves more to be desired. Both times we've been here lately it was super slow since they were understaffed. We had the worst mexican food experience in this place! The shrimp fajita was one of the worst which was super dry and absolutely tasteless… we had also ordered tortilla soup which was filled with squash and carrots. The gucamole looked kinda blackish and when asked the server said this is the best you can get here and sid your lucky it was not brown. So it looks like they dont care about the taste or service, however the cost was $$$ expensive. Save your cash and your tongue from such place! Love this place! I like to sit in the bar area because it has a great ambiance. The bartender Melana is just the sweetest. She always makes us feel welcome and remembers my order as well as my food allergies when I come in! Friendly service and amazing chicken fajitas keeps me coming back! This is by far one of our favorite restaurants in town. We’ve been coming here for years and never took the time out to say anything before, but tonight felt it was time to share. We are consistently treated like family and with respect. The service is awesome and consistent in personnel - many of which have been here for many years. And timing is impeccable- once you order the food typically comes in minutes! Drinks are excellent and food is outstanding. Love this place and highly recommend to anyone in the Novi area!! My husband and myself go here a lot and all of the severs are amazing especially Malena. She is the best!!! She goes WAY ABOVE what is expected and we are treated like family when we go there. It’s one of our favorite restaurants to go to. The food is awesome (and you get a lot for your money), drinks (especially margaritas 🤪), are tasty, atmosphere is great - great place to go to - you won’t be disappointed!!! I wasn't there. I used to go to the one in Brighton. Michigan We used to always get their food and carry out all the time at least once a week twice a month. The restaurant in Brighton closed because they moved to Florida. My fiance and I had the most wonderful server! Colleen is such a kind person and attentive waitress. She was very diligent about drinks and how our food turned out, which was amazing! We always love the food here, especially the sides! Rice and beans are always delicious, and the corn cakes are to die for. The burritos were amazing, and the tamales and enchiladas were perfection. The kids' meals are a great size, too!Colleen had the most wonderful conversation with us about our wedding happening the next day...and even went above and beyond to write on our bag a sweet congratulations! She gave some words of wisdom for the big day and was just so kind! I was blown away how a complete stranger could connect with us like that, but when she told us that she had been in 14 weddings herself already, that made sense. 😊 What a likable person and joyful soul! Thank you, Colleen, and thank you, Border Cantina, for making our dinner before our wedding day so enjoyable! We will be back again and again. Looking for a place to eat while visiting. Randomly picked Border Cantina and glad we did. Service was a little slow (45min to get food), BUT we did have 7 people on top of several other 5+ groups already there. Our server kept our glasses filled and checked on us often. My food was delicious but I was so full from chips and salsa I only ate a little of it. It sucks that our hotel mini-fridge doesn't work and ruined any chance of being able to eat it as leftovers. Oh my goodness, this place is a hidden gem! I mean, where has it been all my life? The customer service is out of this world, like seriously, they must have gone to charm school or something. Everyone from the hostess to the servers to the kitchen staff, they're all so warm and welcoming. It feels like you're at a friend's place, except the food is way better than your friend's cooking (sorry, not sorry). Speaking of food, it's amazing! The freshness of the ingredients really shines through in every dish. And the drinks, oh boy, even I, a non-drinker, found something that I'd happily order again. That's saying something. As a vegetarian, I was a little worried about whether this place would have enough options for me and my group. But boy, did they deliver! They were super accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we got the best flavors from their menu while still keeping it vegetarian. And can we talk about the queso? It's like a flavor explosion in your mouth! I even had two different types of chips, corn and flour, which made the experience so much better. This is the first time I've actually enjoyed the experience at a tex mex restaurant, and I'm already planning my next visit. Overall, this place is a must-visit for anyone who loves good food, great drinks, and even better customer service. It's like finding a unicorn, except it's real and it's called Border Cantina.
