This review is a bit belated, I ate lunch at this location on 02/12/24. I have eaten at most of the boardwalk sub locations in town, and have sung its praises to my friends and family, but this was my first time at the Plainfield location. When it comes to subs Boardwalk has always made me happy with thinly sliced meat, and nice tasty bread, and the perfect amount of toppings. I am sad to say that that was not the experience at this location. The bread seemed like a smaller loaf than I normally would expect, but the worst offender was the meat. It was sliced way thicker than it had any business being, and it threw the whole taste of the sandwich off. It was like chewing on a loaf of dry meats, not like the amazing boardwalk sub I have come to expect. I actually had to throw the sub out after eating 2 of the 6 sections, because it was just that bad. I debated writing a review at all, because I normally love this chain, but they just did not have the mojo during the afternoon I visited. I attached a picture of the sub, and one of the "thick cut" slices of ham for reference. Service Take out Meal type Lunch

I got the #14 (turkey and salami with cheese) Rogue style. So good. The staff was very friendly and nice. They were busy, but that didn't detract them from letting me know they would be right with me and were sorry for the wait. I wasn't in a rush, so it wasn't a big deal. It was nice that they mentioned it and didn't just ignore like other places have done. Clean place. Parking is a little tight because it shares a parking lot with other businesses. I have been there three times so far. Each time I ordered the number nineteen. I had it with a little ranch and rogue. It was really good. One time it was a little messy. But overall pretty god. Lots of meat too. Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Best sandwich in Grand Rapids. Nothing can touch it. Go rogue! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I've been to this location 5 times since they have opened. My first experience was not good. I had not ever been to Boardwalk Subs before. The gentleman taking my order didn't offer any guidance in what to order or what was good to try. It was a very socially awkward experience. The meat for our subs was sliced thicker than I would have liked too. However, like I said, this was our first time here and wanted to at least give it a try. I was not impressed with my sandwich at all and couldn't even eat it after taking a few bites. The toppings were piled on (which isn't too bad in normal situations), but the mayo was way too much and ruined the sandwich. Plus, the meat being so thick just didn't taste right. Although my experience was bad, I knew they had just opened and that I should give them another try. My next time there was perfect! I actually understood why they were in business. To my surprise, the meat was sliced thinner without me having to ask and the customer experience was so much better! I enjoyed my sandwich this vist. Unfortunately with my 5 visits, there have only been 2 good experiences out of the 5. My overall opinion is they could improve on consistency and customer service. I hope this review finds them well. I'm never one to complain, but felt it necessary to provide the feedback from my experience. Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

I was SO excited to see a Boardwalk Subs come to the NE side! We stopped in last night to find a line out the door - apparently we weren't the only people excited for it. This brand new team SMASHED through that line and handled a grumpy old man with so much class, handling the pressure and stress like seasoned professionals. I see previous comments state that glove changing was an issue but I'm happy to report that I watched the staff change their gloves multiple times while I waited my turn to order, even apologizing as they stepped away from the line and explained that they needed fresh gloves. I'm confident that the additional training worked since they remembered even during a huge rush. Food was great and we will absolutely be back. Keep up the great work! Let me start out by saying I have always loved boardwalk subs. I was so excited to get a sub when they opened this location! Unfortunately I lost my appetite waiting in line watching the employees make the food. I watched them cut meat, grab topping, answer the phone, wipe their face multiple times and never changed there gloves once! Some people actually walked out while there subs were being made!😬 I overheard a couple talking about it as well ahead of me. It's so important to change gloves when ever your switching from food to answering phone, or handling money. I was so grossed out I left. So to the owner Please, please, please really press the topic of food handling with your employees. I was really bummed out, I really wanted a sub! Meal type Lunch

I am going to start by saying this is day 2 of them being open so I hope to edit this, but a nice woman working the meat slicer asked me to leave an honest review so here goes. HORRIBLE SUB TODAY. I ordered a pick up ordered hoping to ease the rush of people. They abused the opportunity to SOAK the sub in oil and vinegar like it’s a jersey mike commercial.(see photos) and to top it off they didn’t cut my sub, just wrapped it. They were great and friendly when i went inside, very busy and the subs i watched get made while i was there looked good. Mine i took home however was bad. PS. Going rouge is AMAZING and i love it. I hope to edit this in the future but for now I WOULDN'T EVER EAT HERE. Service Take out Meal type Dinner Price per person $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
