Tonight we decided to give this Black Bear another try after a horrible dining experience 2 years ago. We are so happy we did!!! The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious! Food was good the tri tip gave me some grease burps later, but my shrimp was cook perfectly. My green beans were good, the corn muffin was a little moist on the bottom. Other then that better experience then the last time we went.My husband liked his chicken fried steak he always get when we eat here. We like our waitress she was very friendly and a great smile. Fast service due to the restaurant having three customers in it. The location is difficult to get to. The access in and out of the parking lot is difficult and dangerous for a first time visitor. The food was okay. Chili was not overwhelming. The prices were in line with the area. The bread pudding was subpar - dry and flavorless. The service was SUPER. Black Bear in Madera catered our Christmas Day Dinner. 10's across the board. We did Prime Rib for 12. Well worth it. It included: Prime rib, cornbread stuffing, green beans, yams, cornbread roles, salad, mashed potatoes, and 2 pumpkin pies. Everything was cooked to perfection. Cost before tax and tip, $399.95.
