To a 'foreigner' this seems like a typical American diner. Maxwell our server was polite and super efficient. The food was good but to be honest the portions were just too big. Would recommend the meatloaf. For me a better selection of local craft beers would have been welcome, but overall not a bad place to pick for dinner. This evening I ordered take out chicken fried steak dinner with baked potato and veggies. It was DELICIOUS!! Huge portion of meat, perfectly breaded and cooked. Just the right amount of gravy. Corn bread muffins are the best! I hope the food stays consistent like this. I quit going here 2 years ago when it seemed the food was hit or miss. I always order the same meal for takeout so trust me on this! Hats off to the people who made my meal tonight! I must say the lady at the front who gave me my order was very nice and friendly too. Saturday morning breakfasts out with the family are heaven sent. Katie, our waitress, was one of the best servers we have ever had. Both my husband and I have both served tables in the past and can appreciate attentiveness and outstanding customer service. Katie was all that and more. Love the food but Katie topped it off and we will definitely be asking for her every time from here on out! Hey Jeff Gedo…you have an amazing employee. Katie was the best…hands down. I was looking at the menu and everything looked so good! Asked the waitress for a recommendation- OMG if love a GREAT taco salad, and have a good appetite- this is it!! So GOOD and the portion size was so big! My husband had the Chicken fried steak- he said it was super delicious!! Their “Huckleberry Iced Tea” is amazing also!! This diner is right next to the McDonald's, so it's very easy to find. We arrived at 6:30 am and waited twenty minutes for our food. I understand it takes longer to receive our food because it's homemade, but there were two other customers there. We ordered the beef hash special, which came with a 6oz steak, two eggs, grits, and one pancake. As well as the Bob's red mill steel cut oatmeal, which came with a side of raisins, crushed pecans, milk, and brown sugar, which was very hard and clumpy. Overall, it's an okay experience. I was here on 11/29/2023 for a birthday dinner celebration for my sister. Our server was Mykhael and she was awesome server. She was very attentive and polite. What ever we needed she was willing to do! She always had a smile and I couldn’t say enough great things about her! I had been experiencing a great need for chicken and waffles, except that most places don’t serve it after lunch/brunch. This place to the rescue! I loved the decor of Black Bear Diner. Overall I liked my food, though its only fault was that it did veer on the bland side. It also was a little strange that butter isn’t brought out with pancakes.
