A friend introduced us to this place at Kuala Lipis area. Their specialty is on river fish. Dishes were nice. We also brought our fish to be cooked there and the lady boss was accommodating. Even though the place is at a small town, the prices of river fish there is similar to big city, KL restaurants.

There isn't much choice when it comes to eating in the small little town of Kuala Lipis. Back in 1980s and even 90s, there are a lot of dining options but business started to die down as we approached millennium era. Now there are only a few Chinese eateries left to serve the local.
Best Friend Cafe started off with, you know, cafe concept, but has slowly evolved into serving more dishes... They even have CNY set menu recently to cope with the increasing demand from the crowd. There were only 4 of us - a few crazy guys who used to do everything together - decided to have a dinner together before CNY.
◾Grilled smoked duck breast - my fav snack of the night... Beautifully grilled.
◾Taiwanese sausage
◾Nam yue fried pork belly - they could use thinner batter and the dish would be perfect
◾Salted egg squid - addictive stuff
◾Steamed squid Thai style - love the sourish and spiciness of the seafood. Felt like eating at a Thai restaurant.
◾Stir fried bean sprout with salted fish - a good quality salted fish could make a difference and they did just that.
◾Steamed jade perch with superior soy sauce - fresh and the fish meat was flaky.
I had to say that the quality is improving and the cooking is getting better and better. I actually enjoyed eating most of the dishes which were competently prepared by the chef.
Armed with a bottle of Hibiki 17, we had a great night talking under the stars, reminiscing our younger days partying together.
Me and my wife are Vegan/Vegetarian and explained this to the waitress, she understood and asked about egg and fish. We ordered Vegetable Fried Rice, Fried Vegetable Noodles with egg and a Tofu sizzle pot with vegetables. They were all delicious and affordable too.
Would definitely recommend.

Not accepting credit card and talk back rudely to customer. Hello shop rental in KL RM30k/month. How much your rent in small Lipis kampung? Don't compare Lipis food price to KL and keep saying your food very cheap can't use CC. Just say sorry and apologize for no credit card.

Big portion at a very cheap price point. The fried rice is enough to feed 2-3 people ans it is only RM9. The butter sauce chicken rice is really good too!

Price quite expensive even in small town although food taste good..no price display price for ala carte menu...which i find misleading upon bill issued.
Owner should be more transparent on this and not very friendly and attentive

I surveyed Kuala Lipis to look for good Chinese Cafe, and I saw good recommendation on website, so I told myself how about gave it a try without any expectations. The food has surprised me. I have ordered Dry Chilli Pork Rice and a glass of Cappuccino. The meal is exceptionally large in portion, delicious with a reasonable price. The white coffee did taste like instantly prepared, but of course you can't expect it to be blended with machine, as the eatery is not a cafe, so this part is acceptable for me.

Nice food, big portion and reasonable price. Opens until late, around 12 am. Restaurant is clean and cozy. Good place to have a relaxing dinner with family.
