Direction: Take MRT to Beitou Station (not Xinbeitou, as it would be harder to get a seat on the connecting bus), via exit 1 to the bus station and take bus #230 (get off at 北投文物館) or S25/小25 (get off at 幽雅路35號 stop) + 2-3min short walk - I wish they can add this info to their website.
I came here for the recent exhibition on Chinese porcelain exports-ware, while they have a permanent exhibition as well. There is a restaurant (apparently quite famous) which should require prior reservation but could save you NT$120 admission ticket per person. Visit their website for other activities and facilities available.
Overall a nice place to visit and be part of your day-trip to Beitou or during your stay in one of the many hotel or hot-spring resorts nearby.
This is a private museum housed in an historic Japanese hotel. There is also a resident & tea house. Of you’re any kind of history or architecture buff you’ll absolutely love this place. It very beautiful and has been well restored. It’s also packed with historic objects. The staff were friendly and I’m sure it would be a lovely place to shoot instagramable photos on a nice day (we were there in a storm).
Entry fee is 120 NT for adults.
Hint: ask for the free audio guide (available in Chinese, English, Japanese etc). This gives you a well researched and detailed overview of the hotel and context.
A small cozy museum, you need to pay NTD120 for entry & they will provide a socks for you to wear to enter. It is well maintained and have few exhibit, including one unique exhibit. Is more of an achitechture designed place as it was restored by master restorers.
Fantastic place little place but full of heritage stuffs inside.
Guided tour was excellent as well
If you order a meal (lunch) entrance (admission) fee is waived and guide tour is already included in entrance fees.
Meal is more like Kaiseki style ingredients they use are not so high end but taste is really good enough only personal recommendation if the meal is included 4~5piece sashimi would be excellent. Of course they can raise the cost little bit with sashimi haha
Anyway the meal for lunch time is 1000ntd+10%service they are worth for it.
Highly recommend for family during something special occasion.
A historical place since 18th century. Everything is in good condition. Dine in have to book first before come. Lunch and high-tea available through official website.
This was the highlight of my visit to the Beitou area. The museum is in what once was a high class Japanese style hotel, which has been preserved in excellent condition. They have a very good free English audio guide.
They have a restaurant (which I didn't try) that serves Japanese food and has a great view out of the Beitou area.
We really enjoyed learning about the Beitou area and this historic site through this museum. We reserved in advance and enjoyed an incredible 8 course meal with tea. The cost of the ticket to the museum was waived because we reserved at the restaurant. The exhibits were beautiful, we learned a lot, and the English translations were excellent!
This is a fun museum to visit! You can learn about the history of the region from its initially elegant stature to its post-film era decline back. It was inspiring to hear about the efforts made by local students to save and uplift the entire area back to its former glory. We took a hot spring bath after visiting and it truly felt more special after knowing more about Beitou's past.
The museum's images and photo taking digital opportunities could be improved but they were still very fun
