I recently visited Batson River restaurant for the first time, and it was an absolute delight. Arriving a few minutes after opening on a Saturday, we were promptly seated amidst the festive and incredibly fun Christmas decor, setting the perfect mood for the season. The decorations alone made the visit worthwhile. The food matched the festive atmosphere. I had the mussels and smoked haddock chowder, both had a rich and flavorful taste. The "Zero Proof" mocktail and non-alcoholic beer selection were a pleasant surprise, providing excellent alternatives. Our waitress, Nicole, was not only attentive but also exceptionally kind, adding to the overall positive experience. I'm looking forward to my next visit!
Seriously this is a very cute spot to catch up with friends or a cute date. The interior and exterior are extremely well decorated for the holidays. It is so fun catching all the details that went into it. The food was great and service is excellent. My only complaint was the taste of the mimosas at brunch. The juice used or fruit was not very fruity if you will so all we could taste was the bubbly. If you are into that great, just my personal opinion. I would definitely try a cocktail next time. Overall I would recommend this restaurant for a good meal and I will definitely be back!

They have a variety of seating options including indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff was very friendly and we got our food and drinks quickly. The smash burger is worth the hype! The restaurant and staff was also very accommodating for our 7 m/o with great high chairs! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I love this place and their food. However, tonight we got garlic knots that clearly had raw dough in them. I’m not one to complain, but we sent them back and the chef disagreed with us and the server shook her head and said yeah I’m just the server. Very disappointed not sure I’ll come back. A nice microbrew bar with a nice food menu. The staff were extremely courteous. We had margherita pizza and elote. Both were great. We also had a pretzel for an appetizer, which was dry. We mentioned it to the bartender who immediately took it off our bill and apologized. We certainly will return. Someone seated near us ordered the tempura fish and chips and it looked delicious.
Beer was great. Food was good. Really though, one toilet in one men's room for a restaurant of this size? Seems less than I'd expect. LOVE the back game room with magnetic Scrabble on the wall and more. Definitely worth coming back.
I am so glad there is now a Batson River in our backyard! As a fan of the other two locations (Kennebunk and Portland), this was a very pleasant surprise. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you are hit with Batson’s “image”… class, eloquence, rustic, charm, MAINE. The building is laced with decor (from the outside in) that makes you feel like you’re at your family cabin in northern Maine… this is a refreshing change from the coastal niche that embodies most Wells establishments. Everywhere you look there is something new to discover; from the starlit ceiling above the bar, to the gorgeous hand laid fireplace… there really was no attention to detail that was missed when decorating this establishment. The menu is somewhat limited, but in a good way. Each option has a tasteful twist on a classic dish (e.g. poutine with IPA gravy, jalapeños, and topped with crisp onion strings); and wish options like burgers & pizza, there truly is something for everyone on the menu. On this one occasion, my husband & I shared two appetizers & a dessert. The mussels were marinating in a delicious wine-based red sauce and were the largest & tastiest mollusks I’ve ever enjoyed. The poutine was comforting with a kick and the gravy left me wanting to lick the bowl clean! We finished our meal with the blueberry compote served warm in the skillet and topped with melting vanilla ice cream. There are a lot of blueberry dessert options in Maine, but this was one of the best. Lastly, Batson is known for their unique, fresh, creative cocktails using their very own spirits and house brewed beers. The drink menu offered refreshing options for summer & there were draft beer options. They also offer mock tails & 2 craft nonalcoholic beers! The service was prompt, friendly, and efficient. Sam was our waitress and she was knowledgeable, peppy and seemed to thoroughly enjoy being a part of the team. The bartenders were efficient, speedy and made even our sprite and NA beer look “important” with their drink ware and garnishes. This place is a home run… this is exactly what was needed in Wells. So grateful to have a cozy, delicious and welcoming place to hang out… all year round!
Service slow, food over priced for what it is, especially for a limited menu, way too spicy some dishes, drinks and beer mediocre, decor nice. No checks presented at table just a total that you are given. When you ask for a copy to see your told they don't have any. Asked to see the manager, they never came to the table. After leaving called the restaurant 7 times no one answered. A total waste of time and money. Tourist Trap. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $100+
This place was a favorite on our annual trip to Maine! The atmosphere was amazing- rustic, cozy with a touch of chic. The menu is unique to the area and everything we ordered was amazing! We dined with a larger group and we’re able to sample a little bit of everything and all of it was top notch!! The cocktails were amazing as well. Our server was new and was well supported by other staff and did a wonderful job! We will return on our next trip to Maine. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $50–100
We felt like we were an imposition to the staff. The host was rude. The waitress was worse. Ordered a burger rare. Was told they only come well done! (What???) Chose chicken sandwich. Came Overcooked and dry. Was served the wrong drink for $19. My wife asked to substitute fries for rice. An emphatic No! Price per person $50–100 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
