It's a small place, so if you want to dine in, come early(11 am) or be prepared to wait a bit. They have a few tables for outdoor dining, which they also have a counter outside for take out. We ordered a bowl of clam chowder to share, which was a big serving like 4 cups. Lots of clams. It was different from the creamy clam chowder I am used to. It's more like crushed potatoes to make it a creamy texture. It was good. As our main, we also split the full order of Barbara's fish trap, which had a bit of everything. Fish, shrimp, scallops, calamari, and zucchini. It was made with a tempura batter. I loved it. The service was excellent. Nice location with its own parking lot. I would definitely come back. Quintessential restaurant in Half Moon Bay. Excellent location along the harbor and views of the bay. It's always busy, but worth it. Chowder and fish are great. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The best thing about this place is we got really great service. There’s always a line here so we had to wait about 15 minutes and then got inside. We decided on the Cajun fish sandwich with fries, a cup of chowder and a side of coleslaw. Starting with the good, the fish sandwich was outstanding. The roll it came on was fresh and just a little grilled. We ate every bite. The fries were hot crispy, and typical for fish and chips. The clam cheddar was good. I’d give it a four out of five. It came very hot. I liked the flavor and it had no dairy, even though it was very creamy looking. The coleslaw had a sweet taste to it that we ended up having one or two bites, and left the rest of it. The tartar sauce is also very sweet, I like mine a little more tart. They have stellar chowder and food for sure! Hence the busy atmosphere, hectic but friendly service, and wait to get a table. The inside is very small and has limited seating that is very cramped. If you are lucky enough to get a booth seat with a view, it does have a beautiful view of the water. Is the food worth the wait and business...yes! Absolutely! Grab it to-go if it's too busy. I look forward to returning. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Their fish and chips are award winning and live up to the hype and expectations. Lightly battered and well seasoned. Delicious! We have had to turn around and go somewhere else for grub several times due to their long wait times. However, when we have managed to persist through the wait, it’s always been a tasty experience at Barbara’s Fishtrap. I’ve eaten here a few times, mostly on the weekends. It’s a fairly small dinning room so bring your patience. They do move you through fairly quickly. This is what you would expect for a beach town restaurant. Very rustic but fits the fishing style. On this visit I was disappointed in the scallops as they were lying in a pool of oil. The fish and chips were pretty tasty. If your in town give it a try. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Recommended dishes Scallops
