Loved this place. It's a very unassuming location. I hesitate to call it a hole in the wall but you could drive right past here without realizing how much good food they have to offer! Some of the best crab Rangoon I've had. I also had a ginger chicken dish with jasmine yellow colored rice and it was also really good. Prices are competitive with other restaurants in the area, unfortunately that means about $20 minimum for a decent meal. I don't review many places I eat but this was a great experience. They specialize in food from the eastern part of Thailand. I ordered the “Tum Thad Dinner Tray” and it was delicious. It was a lot of food for one person. Papaya salad was on point. The spiciness was perfect; I ordered 4 out of 5 on the spicy level. The grilled chicken had the right herb and marination, the fragrant took me back to Thailand. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was big, airy and clean. I highly recommend Ban Som Tum. I will definitely go back and will try other traditional Thai dishes. The staff was great, the calamari was shockingly good and the braised beef was also really really good over rice. My only issue was the condition of the bathroom - if your bathroom is a dusty mess it makes me wonder how clean the kitchen is. Everything in the bathroom was either broke and or dusty… I LOVE the food here but it was hard to see the bathroom after eating there. Since I was in the area, decided to give it a try. First time going there and it didn't disappoint. Had walnut prawns, Pad Thai, pineapple curry and Thai iced tea. They were all great! Food and service were great! Our waitress (Sarah) was very attentive with our drink refills and the food came out fast. The crispy trout mango salad was my favorite and we ordered pineapple curry and crab rangoon as well; both delicious. We will certainly be returning. Our family, from 3 different states, visited this lovely restaurant on Saturday night. We had a party of 9, and they were able to seat us quickly. We loved every entree. Came here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. The food was really delicious. I got the Shrimp Pad Thai and asked if they could add broccoli to it for me. I will say that you have to make sure you eat the food as soon as it's cooked. Noodles absorb any juice you have in anything so as soon as I came home (which was a couple of hours later) the noodles were stuck and clumped together and the meal became a little dry. But initially they were not (I tasted the food as soon as I got it) Overall it was a good experience. I paid $20 which is a good value for the portion of food I received. Authentic Thai food! Ordered ☆☆☆☆☆+ level of spicy and still was a bit sweet. Other than that the food was delicious! For some reason, they have been getting my orders wrong lately. A quiet little restaurant tucked away along the busy Pac Highway in Federal Way. The servers were very nice and attentive. The food was delicious and quite a big portion. We ordered their chicken wings, a Thai stir fried noodle, a seafood fried rice, and a couple sticky rice desserts. Everything was well flavored and the aroma of the dishes were fantastic, especially the fried rice, highly recommend that
