They gave us an enormously moldy Oreo cake!!! DO NOT BUY HERE. They had mislabeled food and moldy desserts!! Absolutely horrendous - and it was a series of pastries for my daughters birthday no less. Turned my afternoon into a food poisoning nightmare!! They offered to replace it and I REFUSED - I don’t need any other moldy gross food in my child’s stomach.

I ended up with a lot of last-minute reservations to a birthday party and went from needing a cake for 40 people to be big enough for 60 people. No surprise, there were no ready made sheet cakes (let alone chocolate ones) large enough in any grocery stores. I came upon this bakery during my desperate search and picked out a size and "Over the Hedge" movie design and the owner told me it would be ready in ONE hour. Not only was it GORGEOUS, but he even added a cherry-chocolate mousse layer in the middle. And it really was finished in an hour. (Green Cake) I went there again for a smaller birthday cake 2 years later (Blue Cake). This time I chose a chocolate mousse filling that was very light and sweet and had a strawberry filling instead of cherry. I like how the icing is always more airy and not overly surgary tasting. I did have an accident transporting it so that the Y on Birthday got lifted off when toppers fell over and also made a small hole in the cake because I didn't remove the toppers when closing the cake box, but it still turned out beautifully and even a small piece was very filling because of how tall it was.

Bakery has awesome hours and a kind lady to serve, however, the tiramisu is not tiramisu! A soggy cake with an abundance of cinnamon. 😩😩😩 I threw the rest out!!! Their flaky crust sweets are good and great quality! 😛

Terrible place. Bad service. I ordered a cake and it did not look like what I asked for. Terrible terrible service. Wish she would of told me she couldn’t do it as the picture. Don’t get cake from here. Terrible lugar Mal servicio. Pedí un pastel y no se parecía a lo que pedí. Terrible servicio terrible. Ojalá me hubiera dicho que no podía hacerlo como la imagen. No consigas pastel de aquí. a nadie en la fiesta de mi hijo le gustó. sabor terrible!

There are so many delicious Colombian goodies, reminiscent of life in Colombia. Some of my favorites are buñuelos, almojabanas, pastel gloria, merengue, empanadas, and all the commonly found drinks such as Colombiana, Pony Malta and the Postobón drinks.

Went here as we felt nostalgic missing our Columbian bakery in NY. Had the Columbian empanada, very good. The owner was very nice and even gave me a card to order cakes etc. She asked me to come back sometime for coffee, very sweet 😊 We will definitely return.

Valentine's Day, lazy husband. Need carrot cake. And it's SUNDAY! So I start the usual Google Maps search looking for open bakeries on a Sunday. Called several places that were open with no luck for carrot cake. By chance found Balcazar, open, but they didn't have any carrot cake. Never fear, they offered to make one and turn it around in 1.5 hours! I was assured the baker made excellent carrot cake. As you can see, I had very little choice but to go with this option. So I place the order and tell the wife we have success! (with fingers crossed) I arrived right on time to pick up the cake (6p sharp). The very nice lady that took my order over the phone was excited to see me. She even wanted to take a picture of me with the cake before I left. She was very sweet (pun intended). Ok, that's all well and good, but was the cake good? My wife and I both LOVE carrot cake, and know not every carrot cake is created equal. Such is the case with this one. IT WAS DELICIOUS! We may have to drive past 10 other bakeries to get to Balcazar, but I guarantee we'll be back!
