Thoughtful cooking happens here! And that it’s cooked over wood — so skillful! What’s really lovely to me though is how the staff works like a well-oiled machine. The kitchen staff is moving along, but not in a frenzy, which is a sign that they’re well organized. At the front of house, everyone seems to know their part and is playing it, without anyone having to direct or bark orders. It’s like a well-choreographed dance. I’ve asked a couple servers how long they’ve worked their, and the answer is always years, a sign of a good workplace. It’s just a super experience to watch the people who work here do what they do so well. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $90–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Simply, one of the best meals anywhere. Without a doubt these are master chefs. I challenge you to find a better meal in PR much less in the mountains of PR. You will not find the typical PR food. Tons of those places anywhere. At Bacoa you will find a serenada of expertly crafted culinary masterpieces. The only drawback is the ambiance. It is not terrible by any means. Yes, the mountains are pretty but it is the same view as the vast majority of the PR sit down restaurants. Also, the owners need to start investing in the infrastructure - check the bathrooms. Their food deserves a better experience. This should be 5 star experience from the fence up. Regardless, you will enjoy phenomenal food along with the loud local patrons. Pro tip - don’t wing it. Reserve a table. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Jibaro Del Campo

We came here for a family meal and had a fantastic experience. This has been one of my favourite Puerto Rican dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food was amazing, including for a vegetarian in our party. The setting is beautiful - it is only 50 minutes from the Metro area, but it feels like you’re deep in the countryside. Our food took about an hour to come out, but we didn’t mind waiting as we were very well looked after by our server Arnaldo who kept our drinks topped up! I highly recommend all their natural juices. It’s a beautiful place to just sit and enjoy the country views. In terms of the food, we started with the bacalaitos and the sorullitos. Both were delicious. For the mains we had a mix of – the pork chop, the coconut curry, the 4 vegetarian dips w/homemade bread, the pickled cucumber starter and the everything rice. I would highly recommend all of these except for the everything rice, which was a little bit too earthy for my taste. For dessert, we had the mallorca bread pudding which was delicious as well. Our server Arnaldo was fantastic, the food delicious and the setting sublime. If you are in Puerto Rico, whether a local or just visiting, I highly recommend you make a trip here! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Chuleta Kan-Kan
My boyfriend surprised me with this place and it was definitely a great surprise. From the food the ambience location and server Arnaldo. I would definitely return when I come back to Puerto Rico. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Beets Dip

The most unique restaurant we've been to anywhere in the United States, bar none. Puerto Rico already delivers a slam dunk with it's culture, natural wonders, and food. Bacoa Finca + Fogón encapsulates everything great about Puerto Rico, it's unique location near El Yunque, and executes the experience flawlessly. The menu is local and inventive. The drinks and cafe are also high quality. Everything here is good and pricing is phenomenal compared to the generic tourist restaurants we've found across San Juan. Just be sure to get a reservation a few days in advanced to lock in the time you want. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Made reservations an hour before and had no problem on a Saturday, but they were busy. It's such a beautiful spot to eat! Pond lighting was awesome. The dishes we had were very good and decent sized portions. Don't forget the latte or cappuccino. A little slow service even after the other guests thinned out. I am definitely eating here when I come back to PR. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
