Amor & Farinha cafereview braga
I chanced upon this bakery because it's near the Conservatorio Bomfim, where my children study music. The moment I entered, I felt warmth and saw beauty all around me. It made me think of my favorite beach cafes in California.
A man was pouring what looked like carrot cake batter into a pan-- with great energy and happiness! He greeted me and answered my questions while doing a million things. I picked out a few things to bring home, and he packed them up. This one of the two primary bakers was from Namibia, which we chatted about as well.
I picked up my children and headed home. We unpacked the peanut-chocolate pie-- oh, my! i am a (very picky) baker myself, but I could not believe what a PERFECT buttery crumble surrounded the HEAVENLY chocolate cream on top. Why did we only buy ONE piece?
We shared it slowly and with reverence, and next unwrapped the salmon empanada. What was this? No mounds of doughy crust with a dollop of filling. This was filled with moist and flavorful salmon that magically reached the very EDGE of the dough-- and seemed to be more filling than dough! Again, HEAVENLY flavor and texture throughout!
We unwrapped the slice of cornbread with cheese and meat dotted throughout (a savory specialty from Spain, i think he explained). Wow! That was like a soft Pizza in a Slice of Bread!
That night we made a salad and opened my main purchase-- a 3-cheese quiche-- Wow! A tender crust, perfectly cooked through (no soggy bottoms here!) and with a cheesy filling just as delicious and filled with love as everything else!
Magic is right.
Isn't it incredible what happens when LOVE meets hard work and personal service? This is not a cafe. It's a revelation in Goodness, Kindness, Perseverance, and Intelligence.
Congratulations on making Miracles every day!! ❤️
