Wait staff is very nice but the food isn't what I'd be falling head over heels for. Not worth the $50+ I spent. Salad is heavy on the vinegar, they drown the rolls in garlic oil, I've definitely had better calamari and the spaghetti I got with my veal tasted bland and overcooked. Discovered Altruda's in 2008 when I was dating my now wife. We decided to try them on our first Valentine's Day without a reservation and the place was packed. "Mr. Altruda", who we later found out was the owner, either opened up a new portion of the restaurant or found a way to serve us in a shorter time. Since then Altruda's has been our special place. The service here is always excellent and you see the owner working every night doing most everything to keep things moving. Altruda's never disappoints with food or service. This is the only place I will eat beets. I don't think we've ever ordered anything less than outstanding from the menu. The Chicken Florentine is a favorite. The salad and rolls are worth the trip alone. The only thing you can consider are the wait times. They don't take reservations for less than 6 people and we arrived 10 minutes after open and the wait was already an hour. For us though this was a good time away from kids to sit and chat. First time here. Everything was excellent! The garlic knots/rolls was amazing! The salad was the best we’ve ever had. The fried artichokes were really good. The pollo Amanda, I was expecting a thicker chicken breast, it was dry, but it was still very good! The cannoli was great as well! No complaints! Great ambiance. Definitely stop by!

It's been a long time since we visited here. I was so hopeful this would be better since our last visit. The service, salad and garlic rolls were excellent. Those rolls are their own amazing garlicky food group. We had the Alfredo and lasagna. The lasagna was pretty but wasn't hot all the way through. Wasnt to my liking. I had hopes for the Alfredo but was disappointed. Didn't have as rich a flavor as I had expected. Was better the next day though, reheated in the oven. I was scrambling to find a place to eat with my big family who was in town and Altruda’s saved the day. Paul was extremely helpful over the phone and was able to squeeze us in during a busy Saturday night. Our server Justin was also fantastic and created a wonderful dining experience. Add on the delicious garlic rolls and salad before the tasty entrees and you get a family dinner to remember. Highly recommend! Best Italian restaurant we have been to in a while. Extremely cozy and romantic vibe. The salad is excellent. The garlic rolls are very good. Both entrée’s we received were large portions, great flavors, steaming hot and delicious. The service exceeded expectations. Overall, our dining experience was fantastic

The food was absolutely delicious and our waitress “Taylor” provided us with the best customer service experience possible. Her service was outstanding and second to none. The restaurant is family friendly and handicap accessible with plenty of free onsite parking. Italian cuisine at its finest without going to New York City’s Little Italy. If you want real authentic Italian cuisine, look no further, this is the #1 place in Knoxville. I highly recommend this restaurant for your family dinner or that special occasion. Went for take out, food was ready and hot ! Chicken Parm was good, comes with spaghetti with meat sauce. They also gave us a bunch of garlic buns .. they were delicious. Looking forward to going back, the place had a cool old school classic dark restaurant vibe. Rolls were oily. Salad was ok, the large chunk of tomato was tastless and as hard as a brick. Why serve it? Fish was tough/chewy/over cooked. We had hoped for more after being away for 10 years. Altrudas used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Knoxville. Disappointed in the flavors, overall food quality, etc. We won't be back.
