This is a local place. The interior is a bit run down and the service is so so. But the presentation and food is pretty good. I say check it out. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2

Marco made my experience feel like home. This little Japanese spot is a nice getaway from the madness of the bay. The parking can get a little tricky but it's totally worth it. Inside is a small but cute dinning area. Their prices are more than fair for the quality and quantity of food you get. My order came out in like 10 minutes which is decently quick for what I ordered. I had the chicken teriyaki and two sushi rolls..highly suggest the lion king roll! The food came out fresh and hot off the grill. Overall this place surprised me and it's worth checking out while catching a break from the traffic. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
Nice quaint location with a decent experience in the area. Each meal is served with a pot of hot tea which was a nice touch. The food is good and lots of value for the price as well. I don't have anything overly negative to say about this place. The staff is friendly but comes off as shy. This shy behavior may come off as rude to some guests. The food is prepared quickly and I never had to wait for anything so their service was good overall. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
I love coming here for their bento dinner with a pot of hot tea. It’s the best bento box! They serve quickly and the food is delicious, fresh, and tasty. I ordered the Deluxe Bento 🍱... There 2 things I didn’t care for, but doesn’t mean that it wasn’t good 😌. It wasn’t for tasting pallet. Everything else was super delicious 😋. Great atmosphere, tables greatly spaced apart, and great service! I definitely want to go back!
I recently visited this restaurant after 25 years. Since I was a kid I've loved bento boxes at Japanese restaurants, this was the first restaurant that I was introduced to bento's. I used to eat at Akagi with my family and it brought back old memories. I thought that the food was good and considering how inflated the economy is with pricing, their food was priced fair. We ordered the akagi California bento boxes, was satisfied but since I've been eating bento boxes for 25 years, I've had better california rolls. I would definitely visit with my family again for lunch. They are a good restaurant! I think one of the greatest things about living in the Bay Area is being able to try all types of restaurants and food. But, I also have my steady "go-tos". These are places I go to atleast once every month. Akagi is one of those places. I go for their bento boxes and their simple sashimi plate. Very generous portions, delicious food, and excellent prices!

By far.. one of the best Japanese restaurants in town. Price is very reasonable, but the taste never disappoints and is always consistent. I really like the bento. They have really good chicken and beef teriyaki, as well as rolls. Service is exceptional, too! Thanks for the wonderful meal over the years!
Went there for lunch on Saturday around noon. Not busy, and no wait. Staff greeted and sat us promptly. Chose this restaurant because it was a mainstay during my high school days and into early adulthood. Surprisingly, it's still here! That is a testament to the quality of food, the atmosphere, and the great value. You can get bento boxes for under $15.00, and there's definitely enough food to fill you up. From what I recall,my bento was called the Akagi California. It's comprised of rice 🍚, miso soup, vegetable & shrimp🍤 tempura, 3-piece California roll, and choice of one of the following in chicken katsu, 3-piece tuna sashimi 🍣, tonkatsu, or chicken teriyaki. I chose the chicken katsu. I was hungry, and I still had leftovers for a doggie bag to bring home. My spouse and I shared a tuna ad hamachi sashimi. We also had cold sake, and a large Asahi 🍺. The cuts of sashimi are different if you order it as a dish or as part of the bento 🍱. The quality of the cuts are superior when ordered separately as an appetizer or side. The cuts melt in your mouth as a separate order, where the cuts as part of the bento are harder to chew. We had a great experience with the staff, and the food was satisfying. Even when dining in, the food came served in a plastic to-go container, which I found fascinating and intuitive. If you're looking for a fine-dining experience, this is not the place. If you want quality japanese food, great value, and a place that wouldn't necessarily be a place to impress a date, then this is the place to go. *Update: visited 8/24/22 for dine-in with my wife, and the food was still good as expected. I highly commend 👏 the staff, which consisted of two servers on the floor. They were amazing given that the restaurant was at full capacity, and they were working as efficiently as possible without stressing out. The male server took orders, delivered the food, and bussed the tables. He and the other server/busser were awesome. I highly recommend this place for it's quality of food, excellent service, and great value. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $10–20

First time here. No frills, just great food and beautiful presentation. Busy on a Friday, but still great service. Just moved from Mountain View and looking for a local sushi place. With the quality and price, I think we found it! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30
