Always a favourite restaurant to visit in the Hartebeestpoort Dam area. A casual, mostly outdoor dining area, relaxing atmosphere with delicious German food all freshly prepared. The host and one of the chefs, Michael who is Swiss and together with his South African wife, they own and run this restaurant. There is a bar available with a play area for younger children. A great place to while away an afternoon. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 200–250 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes West Coast Oysters

From the moment we arrived it felt like we were at home in a relaxed atmosphere, unpretentious, great hosting and conversation. The food was presented in a simple way but expertly prepared. The best trout and pork belly i have ever had. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 200–250 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Mussel Pot
This place delivers, the food is great, the place is beautiful if you like nature and humble settings, our waiter was clueless and didn't bring us anything we asked for but Mike makes up for all his staff shortcomings, he is a brilliant host and always welcoming with a smile on his face. The accomodation is very spacious with beautiful views of the dam and surrounding. The best thing about this place is pet friendliness, so you can bring your dogs with...

This is not my first time at this restaurant and it's still the same awsome place. You feel at home and relaxed. The owners who is also a professional chef is friendly and explains the menu to new customers and then chat a little just to make you feel at home. The have some nice beer on tap. Had the Seabass today. Was one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. The owner made us feel at home. His passion for the dishes he presents is totally worth the try. Will recommend to family and friends! Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person R 500+ Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
The rustic feel and atmosphere of the place is amazing. And that is the only good thing that I can say about the place. The service was slower than any other place I have been to. The food was surprisingly bad, and really not worth the price. Overall I will not be going back there which is unfortunate as i really really liked the whole idea and atmosphere of the place.

This place is so beautiful and locate between mountains and very close to the Haartbeestpoort Dam. The food is delicious and the staff is superb. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are also clean and it is self catering but there is a superb restaurant as well.
We stopped here after a hike at Hennops and it was exactly what we needed! We were met by the owner who was very graceful about how dusty and sweaty we were! We sat outside although there is ample indoor dining. The waiters were young, but so friendly, helpful and attentive - well done ladies! There are a few resident dogs on site who don’t pester you one bit and are super friendly. We ate pizza 🍕 and burgers 🍔 and were VERY happy with the food! Our burger patties were slightly overdone, but we are food snobs and enjoy medium rare meat and burgers - HOWEVER, they were packed with flavour and “home made” as opposed to patties from Checkers or PnP. We also had the best lockdown coffee ever!!! We will definitely be back! The owner takes a keen interest in this restaurant and it shows. Un-related tips: the drive from Hennops to the restaurant was at most 14km, past NECSA (government owned energy plants) - just be aware of the potholes on this stretch of road and drive slower.
