As if living in a villa on this beautiful Bang Por beach isn’t paradise in on itself but drop the mic, 88 is great! Excellent ingredients, outstanding craftsmanship.
Their ability to defend against the humidity is unbelievable. If you’ve ever made bread, pasty, or Viennoiserie, you know how hard it is with regular humidity let alone the humidity in Koh Samui. If you’ve never made any of that stuff trust me you’ve experienced it.
With high humidity it makes making pastry and bread even more difficult to make. The humidity attacks the crust rendering it soft. Unlike these beauties, their croissants have that beautiful golden flake to them, buttery but not oily with a caramelized bottom.
Their apple tart perfectly rendered, the apples flavour concentrates but doesn’t leave the pastry soggy.
The iced cappuccino with oat milk simplified with a single sphere cube (love those).
I asked for an “off menu” ham and cheese croissant (pictured), (they were happy to) delicious, however, and this is a me thing not a them thing, I should have asked them to put it into their deck oven for 48-68 seconds.
Carissa had their (on menu) smoked salmon, cream cheese, avo, sourdough bread toast with a perfectly poached egg on top. They nailed it and we loved it.
Now, I’ve saved the best for last, you will never believe what I found? One of my “chasers” which is a favourite food that no matter where I am in the world and regardless of how suspicious of its worth I am, I order it.
Most of the time I’m disappointed. But not on this day. On this day the chaser that I ate was a cinnamon bun. It was super fantastic! Unbelievable. Here’s what happened. When I saw it I was suspicious of it’s worth, normally the cinnamon bun is either too dense (more like bread than bun), not enough cinnamon (I guess they missed the point of its name), doesn’t have the bottom caramelization coating, over cooked, dry to name a few that ruin my day. But on this day (my apologies for not taking a photo, I was too excited) my mind was blown. Each of the above mentioned minimum standards were met.
The gluten was perfect, the spice was confident but not overstated, but the tear to it was reminiscent to the best cinnamon bun I’ve had and that was when I was 8 years old.
It doesn’t mean that this was the best I’ve ever had but it’s in my top ten.
Congratulations 88, you know how to get it done. Thank you. See you soon xoxo
Ps. The atmosphere is perfect, library meets garden, meets beachside cottage chill.

The best carrot cake, and sourdough bread we have tried at Koh Samui.
Coffee is also highly recommended, they have pretty pottery for it.
The staff is very nice and attentive to details. Great place to have a coffee and relax in a quiet calm place not far from Bang Po beach.
I absolutely love the quaint, quiet and cozy ambiance of this little spot. The cafe serves quality bread selections - something they most deservedly are proud of - and their coffee was done right. I really enjoyed paris ham breakfast, although I feel the portion is slightly less than what I had expected considering their above-average price point. Overall, very enjoyable.
88% sourdough now serves breakfast, delicious fresh and tasty. Sweetest cherry tomatos, homemade pesto, and their amazing sourdough. They also had croissants and chocolate babka today. Khun Max has been making sourdough for about 3 years, he trained in Chiang Mai. Its not the hard sourdough, its soft, plain, multigrain or walnut variety. Beautifully decorated now you can sit and enjoy breakfast/brunch 9am - 2pm or take away their breads, which are stocked around Samui too.
super nice bakery. Great cafe, you can also order oat milk. The bread is wonderful, almost like in Germany :-) Be sure to try the cinnamon roll!

Cosy, friendly, intimate little café/bakery. I loved my passion fruit espresso, and the cinnamon bun was rapidly devoured! If you want to purchase bread, be sure to arrive early in the day (or pre-order). The owners were very gracious as we engaged them in conversation.

Best homemade bread in the island (sourdough, multigrain, walnut), one of the best coffee in the island, great breakfasts. Great team, wonderful place!
This is such a nice little bakery with the best breakfast/brunch options! So tasty and nice coffee. They only have one big table, and a pop up table if there are more visitors. 10/10 ❤️
