This was our second trip to 1864 and it was excellent, just like our first in 2022. We had the clam chowder (excellent), Conch fritters (excellent), honey chicken/Mac & cheese (GF liked it alot), and the stuffed prawns ( my choice, was pretty good combo). Service was excellent by all including host, server, and those busing tables. Atmosphere was pleasant, as it was last time. Cost was a little on the high side, but it is St.John. Overall experience was great and we will stop back next time we are in.

Our bartender was so high on cocaine or aderal we thought he was going to drop right in front of us !
He could not sit still for a moment to answer questions and there are were only 5 other people and two other bartenders there with him.
The atmosphere is nice but the menu …. Well, if you want fine dining, it’s not here. A very limited menu with nothing creative. Very, very big disappointment as we chose this as our “romantic” dinner night.
The island, as we all know is Beautiful but the food …. Bring your own and cook at home.

Arrived 45 mins prior to our reservation and we were seated within 5 minutes. Staff was exceptionally accommodating. Food was excellent. Recommend the jumbo prawn. Cooked perfectly, great flavors. Will be back!

We had dinner at 1864 on Monday, November 20, 2023 It was a great experience. Hostess was inviting our waitress was great and the food was wonderful. We had a member of our group who is gluten free. The waitress was great in answering questions and giving advice. We went back on Saturday, November 25, 2023. It was a different experience. Hostess was not very friendly and our waitress was not friendly or helpful and quite rude with us. The second visit, we had a member of our group who is allergic to seafood.We asked the waitress for help in what they could order since the menu stated anything fried could be tainted and many things on the menu are fried. I asked if perhaps the chicken could be grilled. She said no. Choices were the steak with sweet potato mash, broccoli or green beans, either of the 2 salads, chicken bone broth soup (which truly needs a new name) and the Ricotta cheese appetizer. Her comment to us was “doesn’t seem like a great idea to vacation on an island if you are allergic to seafood”. I was shocked by this comment. Our family has been coming to St. John for over 20 years bringing lots of family and friends with them for the experience of all that St. John offers. If you could please consider having other things on your menu for those who enjoy traveling and have food allergies.

Absolutely phenomenal! The yellow fin tuna and conch fritters were spectacular. Service was very well paced, we didn’t feel rushed and food came out with good spacing between appetizers and entrees. The location is great if you’re checking out Trunk Bay, Cruz Bay, or Mongoose Junction. This is a must-do!!

Pan Seared Yellow Fin Tuna
This restaurant is a 5 minute walk from Cruz Bay, St. John, V.I. We took a catamarans from the Ritz Carlton in St. Thomas. 6 of us were seater promptly for dinner at 6. Everyone like there dinner and their drinks were very good. I had the fried scallops with potato fries with a Sake To Me cocktail. The atmosphere was outstanding as was the service. The price for six wasn't bad at all considering we were in St. John. I would go back.
