Great breakfast! Stumbled on this gem by accident and am glad I did. Had breakfast at 9am on a Monday. They are open daily 6-1:30. Lunch also available. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. 2 separate dining areas with a mix of booths and table. Friendly staff. The only reason I chose a 4 is having to wait a really long time to get my order taken. It was busy. But I was passed over many times to serve other diners that had arrived after me. Not a deal breaker by any stretch. Just the reason I didn't do a 5 for service. Had the small breakfast platter which had an egg, 1/2 slice of ham, hashbrowns, toast. Choice of meat and bread. I added a cinnamon roll. It was all very good. The cinnamon roll was huge. Could easily share between 2 (or 3) people. All the food was cooked as I asked. Good flavor, good portions, quick delivery once I got my order in. Phenomenal price. Only $14 for that AND a cup of coffee. $14!!!!! This review is a tough one for me. Overall I liked this place but it is because of one item on the menu, the pancakes. They are HUGE and delicious. We got a blueberry one. We also got the omelettes, now they had good flavor but were small. Here's the catch, not sure if they were really small or just compared to the pancake they just looked small. Either way the pancakes are the star here!!!🥞🥞🥞

Between the quality of workers and price of food, I haven’t been satisfied with take-out in about a year. I always feel like it was a waste of money. This was the first time in a long time that I’ve walked away feeling satisfied. Holy hell them biscuits and gravy were just what I needed. My outlook on life is literally renewed after eating them. Also, the dude at the counter was 10/10. Pretty rare to find someone who actually seems to enjoy their job but this dude nailed it. All I can say overall 10/10. We go in several times throughout the month! We have been there so much that the staff knows us and our order! Seamus and all of the waitresses are absolutely phenomenal!!!! They always make us feel welcomed and at home. They will always check on you throughout your meal, make sure your drink is never empty, and you have plenty of conversation with them! They are always running around and doing an amazing job! Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes French Toast Egg and Bacon

Typical hometown cafe. Excellent food! Generous portions! Eggs were done to order. All in the past had a great meal! Plenty of seating. Service was great! Clean restrooms. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I really enjoy the atmosphere. Our server was very nice. The food was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We also sat there for about an hour afterwards. Having our meeting and everybody was very pleasant. I had the classic over easy eggs with hash browns, bacon and toast. You can't go wrong. Can always tell the place is good. If they can actually make over easy eggs. I'll definitely be back. Service Dine in Meal type Breakfast Price per person $1–10
I just love this little kept secret in Des Moines. For me it is my favorite place to go to start my day, have some coffee and a nice large serving of home cooked food! Though I don’t personally know the owners or staff they are always there with a friendly smile and I feel like I’m part of the family when I’m there. I almost was hesitant to write this glowing review because I also like the fact that not everyone knows about the place! I get to treat many local people to a place where they have never been before. Sometimes I just go there for a hearty breakfast and coffee alone and the diner style lunch counter allows for some great conversation when dining alone! The other 3 secrets I hate sharing with everyone… 1) can only think on one time in the 90-100 times I’ve been here where I have ever had to wait to be seated except one time it was 5 minutes and that was only because I let an elderly couple (twice my age) be seated ahead of me in a full restaurant, and even at max capacity everything was awesome! 2) you get a nice size portion of food at a very reasonable price. I can’t think of many other places I could go for breakfast and coffee for 2 for about $25 and that included what I spent on taxes and tip. 3) the coffee is better and sells for less than it does at the gas station shhh don’t tell anyone but sometimes I talk them into letting me take the rest of my glass in a Togo container and they agree to it everytime! 🤫. All kidding aside, I like this place a lot, it truly is my favorite breakfast spot in the Des Moines area not to mention they make an awesome lunch as well.. and truly great people! Good family environment for brunch. Good amount of food for cheap price but taste was blunt. Tried corned beef and other brunch items. A little bit sharp test would make this restaurant a great place. Service Dine in Meal type Brunch Price per person $10–20
Great service Terrible food steak and eggs this isn’t steak it was ground beef smashed together with no flavor
