Great Belgian pub in Georgetown. I love the alleyway vibe leading up to the entrance with the fantastic tile sign. We were greeted warmly as soon as we entered and shown to a table. The atmosphere inside is an upscale pub with low lighting and bustling business. The beer selection is really robust and diverse. I tried a quad from Belgium (Straffe Hendrik) at the recommendation of our server, and it was delicious. The stout from Maine (Gatherwell) was very tasty as well. My husband tried the imperial stout from Maine (Infinite Darkness), and that was also really good. The smoky saison from Maine (Vestige) is good, but not our favorite. For dinner, we started with a traditional Belgian appetizer, Bitterballen, which was tasty. Just be prepared for the horseradish because wow, did it open my sinuses a couple times. I ordered the Rabbit in Kriek for my main entrée and my husband ordered the Sovereign Burger. I have not had rabbit in a while, and it was cooked perfectly. I also thought the carrots and other vegetables went well with the meat. My husband said the burger was exactly how he wanted it. We were too full to have dessert, but it looks like they have some great waffles....I know you are shocked to hear it. ;-) We plan to come back for sure. Thank you for a great experience! This bar was so cute!! It is down an alley but not a sketchy alley- it is well lit and feels very safe. I tried the absinthe and it was served in a very interesting way- If I liked black liquorice, I probably would have enjoyed the drink. The others drink I had were splendid! The bar wasn't too crowded or too noisy, but was definitely bustling! Highly recommend!! Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The food brought me back, but the ambience of the upstairs bar made it feel like home. With Sovereign’s extensive selection of Belgium beers, you can easily find one to complement what ever you pick from the well crafted menu. I took the recommendation for the bar tended and ordered the Saffron Mussels. The rich sauce with fennel and sausage had just the right amount of heat to highlight the roasted garlic and tomato flavors. The De La Senne Taras Boulba blonde ale was a delicious accompaniment. Great options on the menu, very few Belgian restaurants, so great to have the ‘moules frites’ with Belgian beers. Service is great, even when we were with a big group of 10 very attentive and professional. Atmosphere is very nice cosy! Definitely recommend as great hangout spot for drinks, dinner, and their brunch is also fantastic!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have to first applaud the place for making the alley towards the entrance welcoming by adding some creative lighting! Seems like a great place for locals or work colleagues to hang out after work, but in our case, the wife and I were staying a nearby hotel and decided to have a dinner out. Among the appetizers, we certainly recommend the croquettes; they come in three pieces. I order the Sovereign burger, which had a nice quantity of beef and well-cooked, but seemed to not have much flavor. Not a place that had options to customize the burger or come with any sauces (that I noticed) to add flavor, so perhaps it's meant to be enjoyed this way. The service was okay -- we did ask for a booth as several were empty, but told they were reserved for groups of 3+, only to see that groups of two were being seated there during the course of enjoying our meal. We also ordered before the table next to us...but their order came out far before ours came along. The server was alright, but didn't seem a bit nonchalant or disinterested in sharing the popular dishes, but did point to the beers, twice...despite my rather obviously pregnant wife...I found that amusing :) To summarize, recommend the croquette/deep fried cheese as an appetizer. Go for the company you bring/meet there, the bar atmosphere, and maybe the beer, but not the best for food. Service Dine in Meal type Dinner Price per person $30–50 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
