Delicious food and signature drinks! Plenty of space to eat at the bar (open seating if there is a wait). Definitely a place to go back and enjoy the food and explore the menu 😉. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Usually i dont go on weekends because it does get busy. I would go before 5pm during the week or when they open on weekends. The waitress was nice and helpful she would check on us to see if everything was ok. The wait on our food was longer because it was so busy so that was expected. Went during the lunch hour and had the lunch time special. Had the chicken fried steak and I should have had a steak instead. The chicken fried steak was chewy, hard to cut, stringy, not the best meat. The crust and the gravy were very tasty. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We arrived at 4:22pm. They told us the wait was 15-20 min. We were finally seated at 4:50pm. A server by the name of Jake took our drink order and brought us bread and told us that our server would be with us shortly to take our order. 5:13pm our server who never gave us her name finally came to take our order, since we had already known what we wanted when we arrived. We placed our order and we asked for more bread while we waited. At 6pm our food order finally came out. We ate and yet again had to wait for our server to ask for our bill. At 6:36 pm. Kathryn which I had to look at the receipt to know her name finally checked us out. Overall, food was very good and we ate what we came in for. I like Saltgrass food but not this location food, it was the driest salmon and steak we have received in any restaurant, and the manager tried to solve the issue with a lemon garlic butter sauce. Went with the kids on a little day trip to San Marcos and ended up here at Salt Grass for lunch. This particular restaurant had great service, but the food was mediocre. Our steaks were not cooked to our liking. I wanted medium, and I got medium rare. My son also asked for his steak to be medium, and he got medium well. He was very dissatisfied. They did make up for it by offering to make him another, but he didn’t want us to wait for him so he just ate what they brought him. Ambience is great, and service is excellent. My wife and I ate their Saturday afternoon, January 20, 2024. We were seated at booth in the bar area. Our waiter happened to be the bartender as well. He did an excellent job. Our appetizer was really good. My 12oz rib-eye steak came out perfect. We do very much recommend Saltgrass Steak House and will be back. The atmosphere was great as well, a relaxing place. Pork chop, baked potato, and broccoli with cheese were all really good! Everyone else at the table (6 of us) also was very happy with their food/experience. I have been frequenting Saltgrass for many, many years all over Texas and have always thought it is the best steakhouse for the money. Although, in the last 6 months, the one in Bee Cave/near Lakeway has gone downhill. It used to be great, but I just don't know what might have happened (I hope they resolve it soon so we cab start going back again)!? So, we were pleasantly surprised when going to this one in San Marcos for a family birthday, and it was just as good as it ever was! My server, Ally, was absolutely fantastic! This was my first time to Saltgrass, and she did a great job recommending delicious drinks and foods to us. I was really happy with everything I ordered. The best part was Ally. She really made the experience top notch. Thank you so much for being so kind, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I hope to see you next time I come in! Fried pickles and peppers were so good! The dipping ranch was delicious. I had 2 drinks, a lemondrop martini and white cosmo, which Ally recommended. I loved both! The Cajun sirloin was seriously delicious, cooked to perfection, crawfish had the perfect amount of heat, Caesar salad was cool and crisp, sweet potato had a beautiful roasted flavor, brussel sprouts were fresh and tasty. 10/10 on everything! Celebrated my 10 year anniversary here. My wife and i enjoyed wonderfully seasoned and cooked steaks with the cajun topping on them.
