My friend and I took her sister for an Afternoon Tea at Lytton Dene this afternoon. The pictures shown on Facebook are very different to the presentation we received - that was the first disappointment considering this was a birthday present to her. The greeting from the young waiter was less than impressive and we were vaguely shown to our table. We were not asked about preferences or allergies (of which I actually have!). To be fair, the food was very tasty, especially the sandwiches- my favourite! I kindly asked if it would be possible to have a little more sandwiches and was told (without hesitation) no! We have been to various establishments for afternoon tea and this is normally offered. We had to ask to have more coffee and tea and actually had to ask again to get it.
Sorry Lytton Dene, you really disappointed us and as a result, cannot recommend you to my friends and family - that upsets me. Please try to be more attentive to your customers and maybe pander to their whims a bit more. That said, the smaller waiter with glasses provided a much more professional and friend service and actually gave us a few more biscuits as we had to wait so long for our drinks refills. We witnessed other guests receiving a much better service. I normally give 5* reviews.
