Brought the lawn chairs, some reading material, coffee, and the dog. We arrived at 9:30 AM to hop in a line the already extended around the building. 5 hours later (yes you read this correctly), we had what is without a doubt the most tender and flavorful beef brisket( sold by weight). Ribs and sausages were also solid! Beer from local brewery while you wait. We took home enough BBQ to last us a solid week. Bring some good company and make a day of it. We'll be back. Staff comes through the line early one to ensure people get the food items they plan on ordering so that no one leaves disappointed. 🙌 Service Take out Meal type Lunch Price per person $100+ Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
Amazing, I didnt know I liked brisket till I ate their burnt ends. I think if they were open 7 days a week Id end up needing a quadruple bypass. LINE IS CRAZY THOUGH as its got a reputation. Corn salad is also to die for, My wife tried to recreate it and it was subpar Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
Absolutely amazing food. Best brisket I've ever had hands down. Pork Belly brisket was amazing. Turkey breast was fantastic. Pulled pork was good. Sauces were very good. Portions vs price is very fair. Sides are good. Brisket fried rice is the best side. Slaw is good, but a little more vinegar would put it into excellent category. Grits were good. Mac and cheese was very good. You need to be prepared for a long wait. We got there a 930. Probably 150-200 people were in front of us. Opens at 11. We ate at 3. Very very small dining area. Staff is very efficient and nice. Just a lot of people to get through a small area. The wait is a little negative, but food and environment made up for it mostly. If you aren't patient, this isn't your place. The owner is out talking to customers. He was happy to answer questions. Bring chairs, cooler and something to keep little ones occupied. If I do it again, I'll be there early. 7-8 am. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes Brisket Pulled Pork and Pork Belly Brisket

Best of the best in the Carolinas. You can expect a long line with a tailgating atmosphere. If you enjoy talking and making new friends, this is definitely your place. Movement of the line depends on the quantity of food customers are ordering, and how quickly they order their food. The staff is friendly, and will quickly get your order ready. Everything is cut fresh in front of you as you order, not pre cut, and slapped on a plate, as someone else suggested in her rating. The food is always delicious, and everyone is always friendly. Bring your friends, family, you dog, and neighbors, be ready to socialize, and enjoy an incredible meal. Jon g's is more than a great meal, it's an experience. EXCELLENT food, but absolutely no reason for the wait. We waited on line 3 hours for meats that had been cooked hours prior. Seriously, everything in the menu (besides burgers) has been smoked wayyyyyy beforehand (at least that's what they're selling). So how hard is it too put sliced brisket on a plate? Just saying....... And if you think about it, even the sides are prepared in advance. Mac & cheese, grits, coleslaw, etc ...all made ahead. Just slap it on a plate and keep the line moving. Is it a marketing scheme to make us wait? Bragging rights that you waited in line for 3+ hours for food?Playing hard to get? Or are they actually smoking meats while we wait? It feels that way......Seriously who has this kind of time? If they truly have a problem accommodating the crowd, why do they not take reservations? Or have a larger dining room? With all the 5 stars reviews you would think they're printing money. The food isn't cheap. They should be able to afford expansion of the dining area, if need be. They really need to figure out how to handle the volume of people in a timely manner. Maybe they should consult with Lancaster's BBQ, Midwood, Noble Smokehouse or hell, even Mac's, to see how they do it. On a side note, it was smart of them to put free beer in a cooler. If not for that I probably would have left. Service Dine in Meal type Lunch Price per person $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes Brisket Pulled Pork and Pork Belly Brisket
Wonderful experience from beginning to end. Being a native Texan, finding true smoked beef brisket east of the Mississippi is a challenge. Sure, many try, but few achieve a true low and slow smoked beef brisket that stands alone (no sauce needed) garnering a solid bark and a smoke ring as wide as the Brazos River. Jon G’s has it. We were able to talk shop with the owner for a bit and while he is a North Carolinian through and through, his passion for producing quality smoked brisket and other BBQ favorites ranks amongst the BBQ Heavens (at least for me). While some say the wait to eat is too long (to each their own), our experience was reminiscent of BBQ joints throughout Texas and included meeting new people, talking about the topic of the day, BBQ favorites and experiences and enjoying the camaraderie that comes along with waiting in line. And where else can you grab a free beer (21 and up only) while waiting for your turn at the counter to order? We ordered food to eat at the restaurant (brisket sandwiches, mac and cheese, baked beans) and food to take home (brisket, Cheerwine sausage roll and an authentic strawberry kolache…another item not readily found outside of the Lone Star State). All were five star in my book. If you’re coming to eat at the restaurant, keep in mind this is not a 20+ server, 40-50+ table chain establishment. This is a family owned BBQ restaurant in Peachland, NC that focuses on producing consistent, high quality BBQ. There are 5-6 booths and a long family style table available for seating that turns over quickly. We were able to arrive, wait, order, sit down to eat an amazing meal and have great conversation in a little over an hour. Thank you Jon G’s for giving me a little taste of BBQ Heaven.
